The program was launched in March 2024 and has been continuously developed. Many retail systems have evaluated the Green Tick as a responsible way to help shape selective shelves, focus on standard products, and enhance the brand. Therefore, in the coming time, solutions will be strengthened so that the program can spread more widely.

Supermarkets "take strong action" to help the number of suppliers increase rapidly

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, as of July 31, the program had 11 distribution systems and 345 suppliers registered to participate, of which 235 suppliers had approved products. The total number of registered products was 2,887, of which 2,811 products were approved.

Supermarket systems are actively participating with a large and rapidly increasing number of suppliers such as Saigon Co.op , Bach Hoa Xanh, MM Mega Market, Central Retail...

As one of the leading units, to achieve more than 155 suppliers and 551 products granted Blue Tick (as of July), Bach Hoa Xanh representative said that it has continuously implemented synchronous solutions such as proactively working directly with suppliers through meetings, instructions, training to clearly explain the program's benefits and how to participate; accompanying during the registration process; building a Blue Tick identity for internal responsibility...

Similarly, in the past time, MM Mega Market Vietnam (MM) said that it has synchronously deployed many solutions to mobilize suppliers to participate, such as proactively communicating to suppliers about the benefits of participating in Responsible Blue Tick, consulting throughout the registration process, completing documents; guiding and supporting suppliers to publicly disclose test results, achieving a completion rate of over 90%; training employees to increase their ability to introduce and consult...

As of July 31, the unit has 47 suppliers registered to participate in the system; 164 products have been approved for Green Tick; 151 products/43 suppliers have completed posting test results to the system; 25 suppliers have affixed the Green Tick logo & QR code on product packaging.

As the leading unit with 99 suppliers and 1,057 products participating in the Blue Tick (as of July 31), a representative of Saigon Co.op said that over the past time, seminars, sharing, training... have always been held to help suppliers understand the meaning and role of the program.

In addition, the unit has deployed propaganda to consumers through charts and labels printed directly on the products for consumers to identify and trust.

"In the near future, the unit will further promote priority policies and support for suppliers who have met the Green Tick criteria. At the same time, deploy a communication campaign on fanpages and shopping applications to spread the program's products to consumers."

More solutions to increase presence, expand reach

With the goal of 2025, 100% of Tick Xanh products will undergo residue testing, labeling and traceability records, Bach Hoa Xanh representative said that they will launch a series of additional policies such as prioritizing increased orders, purchase rates, and higher advertising frequency for suppliers with Tick Xanh.

In addition, the unit is planning to organize a separate communication campaign for the program, combined with promotions for this product group.

"We even encourage the remaining suppliers to participate by supporting a portion of the testing costs or committing to purchase if they meet the standards," the representative of this unit emphasized.

Affirming that the Green Tick of Responsibility has special significance in the journey of building a responsible, transparent and safe supply chain, MM representative said that to improve the scale, the unit will soon increase multi-channel communication on digital platforms and prominently display Green Tick products in the system; deploy separate promotional campaigns, prioritize expanding orders with suppliers.

"MM's main goal in the coming period will be to increase the number of participating suppliers and products. Expanding product lines in the meat, egg, poultry groups; groups with high risks of food safety quality (canned processing, milk...).

In addition, improve quality control such as strengthening coordination of periodic inspections, supporting suppliers to complete records, and ensuring full and transparent traceability.

Ms. Vo Thi Bich Thuy, Deputy Director of Saigon Co.op's Business Department, emphasized that solutions will soon be introduced to increase the number of suppliers and products participating in the program, especially fresh food. At the same time, the scope of the Responsible Green Tick will be expanded nationwide instead of just Ho Chi Minh City.

"Green Tick is a strategic transformation step, bringing green and sustainable development criteria into standards in selecting and cooperating with suppliers. Participating in the program is not only a social responsibility but also a long-term strategy in developing a sustainable retail system of the unit," Ms. Thuy affirmed.

Many participating units believe that the Blue Tick of Responsibility helps create a corridor for screening and standardizing suppliers. With the solutions and objectives set out, the program is also an effective tool to help consumers easily identify products that have been tested for quality and origin.

There are still some limitations that need to be resolved to improve.

Although the program is expanding, many participating units said that there are still limitations such as the standardization of packaging, green Tick stamps and QR codes are not uniform among units; suppliers are still hesitant to publicly disclose information, and are concerned about public opinion if an incident occurs.

Some suppliers, especially small businesses, still face difficulties with program information, or do not clearly see the value of participating in the program, so the number is uneven among product lines.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said it is continuously working with all parties and holds monthly meetings. Therefore, it will soon come up with solutions to address the limitations.
