Ha Tinh: A resident found 100 million VND that fell from the roof of a car while it was running on the road. He returned it to the owner when the police came to his house to persuade him.

Thach Dai Commune Police, Thach Ha District, said they had just returned the above amount of money to Mr. Nguyen Van Thong, 54 years old, residing in Nam Binh village.

On the morning of March 21, Mr. Thong prepared more than 300 million VND in cash to go to a bank in Ha Tinh City to "roll over" the book when it matured. He put the 100,000-500,000 VND bills in a nylon bag and placed them on the roof of the car parked in front of his house to count.

While putting the money in the passenger compartment, Mr. Thong had to go back inside the house and forgot the plastic bag containing 10 bundles of 100,000 VND bills on the roof of the car. A few minutes later, he came back out and drove to the bank.

When the car reached the overpass in Thach Dai commune, the plastic bag containing the money fell onto the road and was blown away by the wind. Many people passing by picked up the money and brought it home.

Mr. Thong arrived at the bank and discovered that his bag of money was missing from the roof of his car. He searched the area he had just passed and could not find it, so he reported it to the authorities.

Captain Pham Duy Triet, Chief of Thach Dai Commune Police, said he had sent officers to coordinate with the police of the commune and neighboring wards to check. After more than three hours, the police determined that some people in Luu Vinh Son Commune had picked up the money.

"When we came to persuade them, the people happily returned the money. They said they didn't know whose money it was so they kept it and didn't dare spend it. If the police didn't come, they would report it to the authorities," said Captain Triet.
