Lin Hsiang Ti, who had lost narrowly 1-2 to Nguyen Thuy Linh in their previous encounter two years ago, started the match very well, continuously leading the points against the home player. However, reasonable adjustments helped Nguyen Thuy Linh equalize the score before breaking away to win 21/13 in the first set.

Lin Hsiang Ti continued to have a good start in the second set, but the enthusiastic cheers of the large number of fans present at Nguyen Du Stadium helped the number 1 Vietnamese tennis player quickly equalize and take the lead. Lin Hsiang Ti's efforts helped her reduce the score to just 1 point (16/17) then equalize 18/18 and suddenly take the lead 20/18. Sharing after the victory, Nguyen Thuy Linh said that her semi-final opponent Lin Hsiang Ti was not as difficult as in the previous quarter-final match, but in the second set, the Taiwanese player had some annoying long shots, scoring important points.

The 2-0 victory over Lin Hsiang Ti brought Nguyen Thuy Linh into the final of the women's singles at the 2024 Vietnam Open badminton tournament tomorrow. Thuy Linh's opponent in the final is Japanese player Kaoru Sugiyama (ranked 48th in the world). "I have never faced Kaoru Sugiyama before, so I will rest and prepare well for the final. Playing at home with the support of so many fans makes me very happy and that is also the motivation for me to keep trying," Nguyen Thuy Linh shared.
