Mango fashion brand founder Isak Andic passes away

(CLO) Isak Andic, founder of the famous Mango fashion brand, passed away at the age of 71 after a mountain climbing accident in Spain on December 14.


According to company and police sources, Mr. Andic slipped and fell about 150 meters (490 feet) from a cliff while hiking with his family in the Montserrat cave area near Barcelona.

The tragedy happened around noon, and his son, Jonathan Andic, immediately called the rescue service. However, all efforts to save him were unsuccessful.

Isak Andic was born in 1953 in Istanbul, Türkiye, to a Jewish family. He emigrated to Catalonia, Spain, when he was 14 and began building his career selling clothes and shoes at flea markets. By the time he was 17, he had opened his first fashion store, laying the foundation for the business empire that would become Mango.

Mango is now an international brand with more than 2,743 stores in more than 115 markets around the world . Under Andic's leadership, Mango has become a benchmark in the global fashion industry, with his net worth estimated at $4.5 billion according to Forbes.
