After five days of official competition at the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation has won 35 gold medals, 34 silver medals, and 66 bronze medals, currently ranking third in the overall medal standings. On today's competition day (December 15th), swimming, athletics, and weightlifting are the disciplines that offer the most hope for Vietnamese sports.
In swimming, "Frog Prince" Pham Thanh Bao is demonstrating his dominance at this year's Games in the breaststroke events. He will compete in the 50m breaststroke today with the hope of winning another gold medal. Besides Thanh Bao, Tran Hung Nguyen (200m backstroke) and Pham Huy Hoang (400m freestyle) are also names that bring much expectation.

In athletics, many events featuring Vietnamese athletes will take place today. Notably, "golden girl" Nguyen Thi Oanh and her teammate Le Thi Tuyet will compete in the 10,000m event. In the 5,000m event, Nguyen Thi Oanh and Le Thi Tuyet excellently won the gold and silver medals respectively. If they successfully defend their 10,000m gold medal, Nguyen Thi Oanh will set a new SEA Games record for the most gold medals for an athlete in athletics, and truly deserve the title of the new "queen of athletics". Currently, Nguyen Thi Oanh and Nguyen Thi Huyen both have 13 gold medals.
Besides the two "gold mines," many other sports are also generating high expectations, such as Wushu with 5 performance finals and 2 sparring finals; weightlifting with 3 weight categories in the finals; Muay Thai, kickboxing, shooting, archery... all of which could help the Vietnamese Sports Delegation win more gold medals.
