Many examples of good people and good deeds in the emulation movement of Catholic compatriots

(Chinhphu.vn) - On September 11, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee held the 6th National Emulation Congress to commend good people and good deeds among Catholics, period 2020-2025.

Member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien attended and spoke at the congress.

The congress is an opportunity to share good experiences and effective ways of doing things; to honor and promote advanced models; to encourage and motivate Catholics to continue to promote the tradition of solidarity and humanistic values, good traditions; to be active and exemplary in emulation in labor, production, building cultural life, contributing to building an increasingly rich and civilized country, moving forward into a new era.

Many typical examples appear in implementing campaigns and emulation movements.

Over the past 5 years, the emulation movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, and live a good life and follow their religion" associated with 8 contents launched by the Central Committee of the Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics has achieved practical results.

The specific actions of Catholic compatriots are vivid evidence of the spirit of patriotism and the tradition of solidarity, attachment and accompanying the nation, and successfully implementing the 9 emulation contents launched at the 5th Emulation Conference, period 2015-2020.

In the emulation movement, there have appeared more and more examples of good people, good deeds, typical advanced models, excellent in labor production, economic development, helping each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, promoting charitable and humanitarian activities, and strictly implementing the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws.

Thereby, the material and spiritual life of Catholics is constantly improved, contributing to repelling social evils and maintaining political and social stability. The people are increasingly excited, assured in keeping their religion and fulfilling their civic responsibilities, the strength of the national ecumenical bloc is increasingly consolidated and strengthened.

Ha Tinh Catholics currently have over 18,000 followers, living in 575 villages and residential groups. The whole province has over 1,000 cadres and party members who are Catholics participating in work and activities in agencies and organizations from the province to the grassroots level.

According to Mr. Gioan Baotixita Le Van Dung, Chairman of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Ha Tinh province, in recent times, Catholics in Ha Tinh have actively responded and concretized the patriotic emulation movement, living "Good life, beautiful religion" into the movement "All people unite to build new countryside, civilized urban areas, living good life, beautiful religion".

These efforts have brought practical results to community life, enhancing the responsibility of Catholics in the cause of industrialization, modernization and national renewal.

Along with that, 100% of parishes and chapels in Ha Tinh have worked with people from all walks of life in residential areas to build conventions and village covenants, and registered to compete in building "New Rural Residential Areas" and "Model New Rural Residential Areas".

As a result, over 502 villages, including 58 all-Catholic villages and residential groups with a large number of Catholics, have achieved the title of "Cultural Village", "Cultural Residential Area", "Cultural Residential Group", accounting for 83.9%. The number of families achieving the title of "Cultural Family" each year is higher than the previous year, accounting for over 90%.

Up to now, 114/118 communes with a large population of Catholics have been recognized as meeting new rural standards, 80 residential areas with a large population of Catholics have met model new rural standards, 10 communes in Catholic areas have met model new rural standards, 17 communes in Catholic areas have met advanced new rural standards...

Priest Nguyen Hoang Hon, Vice Chairman of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Ca Mau province, said: "Living the gospel in the heart of the nation to love and serve" is considered the guiding principle in the religious and secular life of Ca Mau Catholics.

The lives of religious people have changed in a positive direction through movements launched by the Fatherland Front at all levels and the Catholic Solidarity Committee. Parish priests have played an active role in bringing about concrete results.

Typically, in the parishes of Hoa Thanh, Quan Long, Cai Cam, Cai Ran, Bau Sen, they help more than 500 households raise shrimp, fish, and grow fruit trees, worth billions of dong. Kinh Ba and Kinh Nuoc Len parishes help religious people raise shrimp and crab quite well. Many households earn several hundred million dong from raising shrimp and crab each year.

Charity work has always been a bright spot in the patriotic emulation movement of Catholics in Ca Mau province, typically the movement to build rural bridges, fresh water wells, charity houses... worth hundreds of billions of VND. The missionaries in the province have mobilized charity and social work with a total amount of over 102 billion VND.

Emulation movement among Catholics is directed towards the grassroots, with focus and key points.

Chairman of the Central Committee of the Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, Father Giuse Tran Xuan Manh, affirmed that to achieve the above results, the Central Committee of the Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics has received the attention, direction and leadership of the government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the coordination of relevant agencies.

The implementation of emulation movements of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee at all levels has been innovated in content and implementation methods; patriotic emulation movements are directed towards the grassroots and residential areas, with focus and key points; closely following the key tasks of the locality and the country.

This will arouse the pride, dynamism and enthusiasm of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee at all levels; becoming the driving force for striving to fulfill tasks and build the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee stronger and stronger.

Along with that, the work of propaganda, commendation and replication of advanced models has had positive changes, with coordination with media agencies in introducing and promoting excellent advanced models.

Many examples of good people, good deeds, and advanced models in emulation movements have spread strongly and widely among Catholics.

The commendation work in most localities has been carried out seriously, promptly discovering and rewarding collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the activities of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee at all levels.
