The robot "girl" introduced on the sidelines of the Capital Children's Festival has a "heart" that is a chatbot software that applies artificial intelligence (AI) technology with the goal of supporting female students in their studies and developing knowledge and common skills. Notably, this is a product created by a group of female high school students in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City under the name Future Uplift Foundation - Fund to Support Female Students in Highland Areas.
"At my school, teachers always encourage the use of AI for learning. I have a friend at school who often uses AI as a very effective homework support tool. Knowing that her father is also an AI expert, the group asked for help in learning about this technology. During the learning process, the group realized that AI can completely help female students in many aspects," shared Vo Nguyen Tuong Minh, a 10th grade student at Concordia International School Hanoi, founder of the Fund.
A special robot "girl" appeared at the 15th "Uncle Ho's Good Children" Congress in Hanoi. |
According to Tuong Minh's personal experience, AI is not only a companion in studying, but can also become a platform to support female students in psychology, sexeducation , abuse prevention, helping young people raise awareness about reproductive health and self-protection. "I realize that many students do not have knowledge about these important issues, and a chatbot can completely provide information in an accessible, safe way, without being entangled in subjective judgment," said the 10th grade female student.
The team's robot/chatbot is built on the Zerochat platform, which allows chatbots to be created without programming. Instead, the authors only need to clean the information and feed the data into the RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) data model to provide knowledge to the chatbot.
The above process has been continuously tested by children to adjust the content to suit their age-appropriate psychology and cognition, and is under the support and guidance of experts.
Research team members optimize the chatbot "Female Student's AI Friend". |
Through practical experience, we have found that when interacting with chatbots, the questions become sharper and sharper. This means that the level of the questioners has gradually improved, in other words, they have acquired more knowledge through asking questions to the chatbot.
Many delegates at the Congress were also impressed by the ability to interact and read data of the cute pink robot. The children also proactively asked in-depth questions about historical knowledge, adolescent health, life skills, etc.
Some delegates affirmed that this project has the potential to develop and spread widely under the name "AI friend of female students", becoming a useful tool, contributing to narrowing the educational gap, bringing equal learning opportunities to children, especially in remote areas, areas with difficult conditions.
Many delegates enthusiastically interacted with the "little girl" robot. |
Although some initial positive results have been obtained, the research team believes that the chatbot still has certain limitations. "The amount of data input is not rich, and it depends a lot on how the questions are asked. Specifically, if the questions are not good, the answers will hardly be interesting. In the near future, we hope to be able to update more data so that the chatbot can develop faster and more sustainably," said Tuong Minh.
The Highland Female Student Support Fund was established with the desire to provide knowledge and financial support so that highland female students have the conditions to study, develop knowledge, life skills, psychology and especially equip themselves with knowledge about technology, sex education, and prevention of sexual abuse.
The Fund currently has 10 members, all of whom are junior high and high school students in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Since its establishment, the Fund has implemented many programs, typically: Awarding scholarships to 4 Tay ethnic female students in highland villages of Lao Cai province; Building toilets for the families of 2 disadvantaged female students in Son La province; Giving Tet gifts and dozens of bicycles to highland students...
