On the morning of October 26, Japan successfully launched the new generation unmanned transport spacecraft HTV-X carrying supplies to the International Space Station (ISS).
According to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the spacecraft's developer, at exactly 9:00 a.m. on October 26 (local time, or 7:00 a.m. Vietnam time), at the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture, the H3 rocket successfully launched the HTV-X spacecraft into orbit.
The HTV-X is a new version of the "Kounotori" transport ship that was decommissioned five years ago.
The ship was upgraded with a lighter hull and improved systems, increasing its carrying capacity by about 1.5 times.
The unmanned vessel, 8 meters long and 4.4 meters in diameter, can carry more than 5.8 tons of cargo.
It is estimated that it will take about 4 days for HTV-X to move and adjust its orbit towards the ISS.
The ISS's robotic arm is expected to "receive" the HTV-X spacecraft, after which the transport spacecraft will carry out cargo transfer activities, contributing to Japan's international space cooperation mission./.
