Disadvantages of visiting Paris

Việt NamViệt Nam28/07/2024

Crowded Paris, metro cards with broken chips, restaurants closing early, and lots of street vendors are some of the inconveniences that tourists should be aware of.

Arriving in Paris at the end of June, Ha Tam, a Vietnamese tourist who currently lives and works in Hungary, said that Paris is "not a rosy experience" as many people think. Tourists will encounter "unpleasant and inconvenient things" while visiting the place considered the "City of Light", but one of the most visited cities in the world .

Only after arriving in Paris did she realize that "the hustle and bustle shattered all her expectations of a romantic, dreamy Paris," said Ms. Tam.

It is very difficult to get a photo without people in it.

The peak tourist season in Paris is usually from June to August and most of the famous attractions are very crowded. Therefore, to get a "virtual life" photo, visitors will have to jostle. Ms. Tam said the scenery is very beautiful but everywhere is full of people, mostly tourists. Most of the metro trains are packed with people. "It feels very stuffy," said the Vietnamese tourist.

The Louvre Museum is big and beautiful with many works of art but it is too crowded to see and enjoy. The location of the Mona Lisa painting is "really terrible, let alone standing there admiring it, you can only take a few quick photos and then have to give way to the hundreds of people right behind who have their turn", Ms. Tam added.

Metro tickets often have broken chips

In Paris, the metro is the most convenient and economical means of transportation. However, metro tickets are prone to chip damage if kept near the phone frequently.

"I bought a Day Pass in the morning, but by noon it couldn't be used at the metro entrance. Because I didn't understand what was happening, I had to ask the station staff and found out that the ticket's chip was damaged, especially if it was placed near a phone," said Ms. Tam.

Ms. Tam advises that in such cases, you should go to the information desk to ask the staff to help you change your ticket for free. Even if you are supported, note that you will have to wait quite a long time because many people are in the same situation.

Many street vendors

Many tourist spots are filled with street vendors, who often “play a lot of tricks.” Ms. Tam said that these street vendors often attract attention, making everything chaotic and messy.

"They not only sell small items, but someone also leaves three expensive glass bottles of wine in the middle of a crowded street. Tourists often look around to admire the scenery, and if they accidentally kick them, they will be forced to pay compensation," said Ms. Tam.

In addition, street vendors often attract tourists' attention with their advertisements, causing many people to be negligent and not pay attention to their belongings, which can lead to pickpockets at any time.

The restaurant is not open during normal hours.

Restaurants in Paris often take a break, many will close after 2-3pm and only reopen after 6pm, even those near tourist attractions.

"This is a bit inconvenient for tourists because most tourists will eat at any time, they will be busy playing and will only eat when they are hungry," said Ms. Tam, adding that she was the same. She missed many delicious restaurants that she had saved the address of in advance, because when she arrived, the restaurants were all closed.

However, in addition to the above inconveniences, according to Ms. Tam, Paris still has many interesting things, especially for those who have never been there. The weather, beautiful scenery, delicious food, good customer service, shopping paradise... are the things that always attract tourists to Paris.
