The Hallyu Wave (Korean Wave) refers to the rise and global spread of Korean culture around the world. And there are movies associated with this wave, leaving a strong impression.

The Hallyu Wave has transformed South Korea into a global cultural powerhouse, with both the K-pop and K-drama industries playing a key role in shaping this cultural wave. K-drama, in particular, is said to have played a key role in attracting foreign audiences with its emotional stories, deep family themes, and high production values.

And here are some classic Korean dramas that created the Hallyu wave.

The drama tells a love triangle story starring Ahn Jae Wook, Choi Jin Sil and Cha In-pyo in their younger years.

The film revolves around the heartbreaking story of two brothers who are separated - after the truth about their younger sister being switched at birth is revealed - which brought tears to the audience. The two later became lovers but the film ended in an unhappy ending. Autumn in My Heart became a model for Korean romantic dramas later on. A cultural phenomenon, Boys Over Flowers is undoubtedly one of the most popular dramas that introduced a new generation of viewers to Korean dramas. The story of a poor girl, Geum Jan-di, who attends a prestigious school and her relationship with the wealthy and arrogant Gu Jun-pyo swept across Asia, catapulting its two main actors, Koo Hye Sun and Lee Min Ho, to A-list stardom.
