Recently, due to the impact of extreme weather, many sections of Hoi An's coastline have suffered serious erosion. In some places, the waves have eaten deep into the mainland, creating cliffs nearly 5 meters high, threatening many tourist structures.
In particular, after storm No. 12, the entire Tan Thanh and An Bang coastline was hit by strong waves, eroding dozens of meters inland. Many roads collapsed, tourist structures, coastal restaurants and residential areas were at risk of collapse.

To save the coast, the Da Nang City Military Command mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers to coordinate with the local government and people to urgently build embankments and set up sandbags to limit the impact of big waves and high tides.
Before the storm hit, soldiers worked very urgently, actively transporting hundreds of sandbags to build embankments, create temporary barriers, and reinforce the coast.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Dinh Dong, Commander of Regiment 885, Da Nang City Military Command, the unit has been deploying more than 100 troops to urgently fix landslides at An Bang and Tan Thanh beaches for many days.
"In particular, today, 100% of the troops will operate through noon to shorten the time to complete the mission, then withdraw this afternoon to ensure the safety of officers and soldiers when storm No. 13 makes landfall," said Lieutenant Colonel Tran Dinh Dong.
