Efforts and determination for key projects

No delay in completion of highway projects

On December 19, it is expected that more than 60 expressway projects nationwide will be put into operation and open to traffic. This is an important milestone in realizing the goal of putting 3,000 km of expressway into operation. Time is running out, so the project implementing units must make more efforts, and if they are determined, they must be even more determined. Especially in projects where the implementation volume is not yet high such as Dong Dang - Tra Linh, Huu Nghi - Chi Lang, Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang ...

With the expressway projects under construction, the most difficult task lies in the group of projects invested by localities.

Since May, each month in Cao Bang and Lang Son areas has recorded more than 20 rainy days. Along with the impact of many storms, the construction volume of both Huu Nghi - Chi Lang and Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway projects is at about 50%, lower than the requirements. Now the weather is more favorable, hundreds of construction sites at Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway project are concentrating to speed up.

Hundreds of tons of materials have been mobilized to the construction site. Machinery, equipment and manpower have also been increased by more than 50%. Everyone is working hard to speed up to make up for the slow progress.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Dai - Director of the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang Expressway Project Management Board shared: "The contractor has gathered and gathered all materials along the entire route to ensure progress. Construction will be carried out in a rolling manner."

Mr. Truong Duc Lien - Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company commented: "Up to this point, the main route to ensure the basic route has been completed. Regarding the financial plan, the project enterprise has also prepared all cash flows, from capital sources to credit sources to be ready to pay for all construction contractors, ensuring the route progress of the project".

Among the expressway projects under construction, the most difficult problem lies in the group of projects invested by local authorities. Currently, only 5/11 projects are following the set plan with a total length of 290 km.

This year is a rather difficult year for construction units, because the supply of materials is still difficult, prices are always fluctuating and especially the weather is unfavorable. However, with the goal of completing 3,000 km of expressway this year, the Government and the Ministry of Construction require construction units to increase machinery and human resources.

The Ministry of Construction and localities affirmed: There will be no delay in the progress of all projects. The two most difficult projects, Huu Nghi - Chi Lang and Dong Dang - Tra Linh, will be put into operation on December 19. Particularly, the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang route will be put into operation for 30 km connecting to the center of Lang Son province before the Lunar New Year this year.

More effort and determination for key projects

Up to now, the whole country has had 2,476 km of expressways and efforts are continuing to implement the construction of the remaining 733 km of 22 component projects. It can be said that completing infrastructure is one of the major resolutions that the Party and the State have set and the Government is determined to implement in this pivotal year.

Less than a week ago, at the 21st meeting of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the Steering Committee directed: from now until the end of 2025, there are only nearly two months left, while the weather conditions are changing unfavorably, some projects still have a large amount of work. Therefore, it requires the competent authorities to continue to promote the achievements, make more efforts, and be more determined to implement tasks to ensure the completion of the goal of putting into operation 3,000 km of expressways and about 1,700 km of coastal roads.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed: "Determination must be very high, efforts must be great, actions must be very drastic, each task must be done properly, each task must be completed. Second, in the division of labor, there must be 6 clear things: clear people, clear work, clear authority, clear responsibility, clear product, clear time for us to complete. I really hope that localities will not leave our brothers alone at the construction site. Comrades Secretaries, Chairmen, People's Committees of provinces and cities where the expressway passes through, our brothers are under construction, I request you to visit, help, and support our brothers."

Currently, construction works to ensure flight operations are being rushed.

Many projects accelerate to the finish line

From now until December 19, there are only nearly two months left, which is an extremely important period to accelerate and break through the implementation of key projects and works. This momentum is taking place vigorously across the country.

At the air traffic control tower, the most important item in the Long Thanh International Airport Component 2 project, hundreds of engineers and construction workers seem to be working non-stop. Up to this point, the completed volume has reached over 85% of the plan.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hai - Director of the Project Management Board of the Joint Contractor Corporation 36 - Newtatco - VNCC said: "Although the weather was very unfavorable at the end of last year, the contractor was highly focused, still maintaining 5 construction sites in 3 shifts and 4 crews, working through noon, workers had lunch and rest at the construction site to continue working at 1 pm in the early afternoon".

The air traffic control tower area, serving runways 1-3 of phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport, at present, all imported equipment has arrived and is basically being installed to meet the investor's commitment.

Currently, the construction works to ensure flight operations are being rushed. Up to now, the construction works have been completed. The finishing and equipment installation items are also in the final stages, ready for the first technical flight on December 19.

Mr. Hoang Manh Tan - Member of the Board of Members, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation commented: "Currently, we are closely coordinating with the contractor to install, complete, apply for a license from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, prepare a very detailed plan to serve the flight plan, technical inspection on December 15 and fly technical flights on December 19 according to the general plan of the Government as well as the Ministry of Construction".

Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) is also striving to increase the construction volume at the site by over 20% each month. Currently, 3/15 packages have been completed, many items have reached 90% of the volume. Many packages have shortened the progress by 3 to 5 months, determined to complete the technical milestones before December 19.

As for the North-South Expressway expansion project in the East, Cao Bo - Mai Son section, after 8 months of construction, the entire bridge section has been closed. The work of treating more than 10 km of weak ground has been completed. The contractor is aiming to complete the project 8 months ahead of schedule.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cong - Construction Commander of the Cao Bo - Mai Son Expressway Expansion Project commented: "The most favorable thing is that the land has been cleared since phase 1, mobilizing all synchronous machinery on the entire route to construct the items".

Mr. Hoang Thanh Binh - Head of the Project Management Board of Xuan Truong Private Construction Enterprise said: "As soon as the site area was handed over, the unit approached the locality, as well as the Provincial People's Committee, to grant a license for mining. The enterprise has gathered enough supplies and materials to construct the roadbed and fill the load. We will strive to open the road to traffic by April 30, 2026."

Currently, the country is implementing 120 important and key projects in 30 provinces and cities, in the three areas of roads, aviation and seaports. The development of strategic infrastructure not only contributes to promoting public investment disbursement but also contributes to stimulating rapid and sustainable economic growth.
