This is an important trade promotion event of Vietnam's agricultural sector. The Department of Rural Development of Son La province has selected 03 outstanding cooperatives in the production and consumption of OCOP products and typical agricultural products of the province.

Favorable natural conditions and natural resources

Son La is considered a mountainous province with natural conditions, natural resources, and terrain favorable for agricultural and forestry development. The total agricultural land area of ​​the province is up to 364,731 hectares, forestry land is 623,556 hectares, 97.7% is sloping land, the soil layer is quite thick, suitable for dry crops, especially fruit trees, industrial crops... The terrain is deeply and strongly divided, the mountainous area accounts for over 85% of the natural area of ​​the whole province, there are 2 relatively flat plateaus: Moc Chau plateau and Na San plateau with an average altitude of 600 - 700 m above sea level.

Son La's climate is divided into two distinct seasons: cold, dry winters and hot, humid, rainy summers. Due to the deeply and strongly divided terrain, many sub-climatic zones have been formed, allowing for the development of a rich agricultural and forestry production.

The province has 274,065 km of border with Hua Phan and Luang Prabang provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic; population of over 1.2 million people, with 12 ethnic groups... The province has 75 commune-level administrative units (08 wards and 67 communes), 2,233 villages, sub-regions, and residential groups.

The favorable climate, terrain, natural resources,... help Son La to be favorable in agricultural and forestry production.

Along with the development of the country in the era of integration and development, Son La agriculture has made great strides such as market mechanism, contract policy and strong reforms in management that have aroused the great potential of Son La farmers. From a predominantly self-sufficient agriculture, the province has formed a modern, multi-value, sustainable commodity agriculture that harmoniously combines the factors.

In recent years, Son La agriculture has been promoted to develop in the direction of commodity production, forming fruit growing areas, concentrated agricultural raw material areas associated with processing industry and domestic and export consumption markets. High-tech agriculture, ecological agriculture combined with tourism has opened up new development space contributing to increasing income and improving the quality of life of the people. Agricultural production has developed in the direction of improving productivity and product quality, associated with high-tech application, value chain production, associated with traceability, assigning growing area codes, exporting and forming many OCOP, VietGAP, organic products.

The province currently leads the country in fruit tree area. From 2016 to 2025, the area of ​​fruit trees and hawthorn trees has expanded to about 85,050 hectares, an increase of ~219% compared to 2016, with an output of about 510,000 tons. To date, the whole province has 214 OCOP certified products (1 5-star product, 69 4-star products, 144 3-star products) .

This is an opportunity for businesses and cooperatives to consolidate and expand the domestic market, boost exports, contribute to building a green, circular agriculture, meeting international standards on environment and sustainable development.

Enterprises and cooperatives in Son La and Hanoi signed contracts to supply OCOP products and local agricultural products under the witness of leaders of the parties.

Accordingly, the Department of Rural Development of Son La province has registered with the Fair Organizing Committee 04 OCOP booths, local agricultural products with outstanding agricultural products such as custard apple, honey from single flower, honey from longan flower, dried grilled bamboo shoots, bamboo leaf tea, lingzhi mushroom extract, etc. These are all typical and essential agricultural products carefully selected to participate in the fair.

Within the framework of this fair, the Department invited 07 enterprises and cooperatives to attend the Connection Conference, of which 04 enterprises and cooperatives sent their products to join KOLs and KOCs (famous people) to conduct livestream on the Tiktok platform chaired by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hanoi city in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La, Hung Yen, and Lang Son provinces. The initial results were very positive, many orders were delivered to consumers across the country.

Agriculture continues to be the focus of economic development

In order to continue to effectively promote the Coordination Program to Improve the quality, food safety, and added value of agricultural and aquatic products traded between Hanoi and other provinces and cities in the country, Son La province continues to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hanoi City to continue to maintain and develop a safe food supply chain, ensuring traceability; strengthen supervision of quality and food safety of food sources supplied to Hanoi City in particular and the whole country in general. Promote the introduction of Son La province's agricultural products to Hanoi consumers such as participating in markets, fairs, connection programs, etc., focusing on introducing OCOP products, typical products of Son La province. Connect and introduce businesses and cooperatives with the capacity to connect and cooperate in consuming the province's products.

In the coming time, the province also needs to strengthen management, inspection and supervision of enterprises and cooperatives participating in the supply chain of safe vegetables, meat and seafood for Hanoi. Promote trading activities, introduce and promote safe agricultural products, OCOP products of Son La province to supermarket chains, retail systems, and convenience store chains in Hanoi; continue to support cooperatives and enterprises participating in fair booths of safe agricultural and seafood products in Hanoi and major cities in the country. Regularly exchange, provide information, and forecast market trends of all parties to encourage, motivate and orient enterprises and cooperatives to promote production and trading of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to ensure food safety, OCOP products, etc.
