On the rehearsal floor these past few days, People's Artist Phuong Loan was emotional because she was about to transform into the role that brought her the Mai Vang Award in 2006.
On February 14, director Tran Ngoc Nha Thy brought to the stage the script "Tears of Deep Love" by author Hoang Song Viet, the play will be performed in March 2025.
Sharing her feelings when inviting People's Artist Phuong Loan to play the role of teacher Dung, director Tran Ngoc Nha Thy said that it was because that role brought honor to People's Artist Phuong Loan when she was voted by readers of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper to receive the Mai Vang Award in 2006.
"The character of teacher Dung brings me a lot of emotions. Through the performance of Ms. Phuong Loan when she plays this character, I have more motivation to stage the work, aiming at profound humanistic values with educational meaning for the young generation: Living must have ideals, knowing how to cherish the past" - director Tran Ngoc Nha Thy expressed.

The 2006 Cai Luong play "Tears of Deep Love" was directed by Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong and performed at the 5B Experimental Cai Luong Club stage of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association.
The content revolves around a business director who, because of his passion for the beauty of young women, ruined his own life and the future of his children. Not only that, he also harmed an honest young man, causing his mother, a teacher, to suffer. People's Artist Phuong Loan plays the role of teacher Dung. She does not believe that her son is a murderer, so she seeks justice to prove her son's innocence.
Reprising an old role is nothing new in the theater world, but with a character that has brought her career a noble award, the main judges of which are readers of the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, People's Artist Phuong Loan is very excited, looking forward to the day she can fully experience this role.

She confided: "Among the proud achievements of cultural and artistic activities in Ho Chi Minh City, it is impossible not to mention the contribution of the Mai Vang Award organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper over the past 30 years. I have won the award and still accompany the meaningful activities of the Mai Vang Award. The most beautiful thing is the mutual love, gratitude to those who have contributed to society through the program "Mai Vang Tri An" (formerly "Mai Vang Nhan Ai"), I have also accompanied the organizing committee many times to hand over the awards to artists who are facing difficult circumstances".
People's Artist Phuong Loan recalls that in the 2006 stage field, the "Best Male and Female Drama Actor" award went to Meritorious Artist Bao Quoc and actress Hong Anh; "Best Male and Female Cai Luong Actor" went to Tan Giao and People's Artist Phuong Loan; "Best Stage Director" went to artist Thai Hoa (play "Ghost Wife"). Currently, most of these artists are still working full-time and are role models for their juniors.
"Thus, the Mai Vang Award is always a support for the young generation to follow the examples of award-winning artists, to foster the spirit of continuous creativity through new products and roles, contributing to building an increasingly beautiful art garden" - People's Artist Phuong Loan proudly said.
"The role of teacher Dung is partly similar to myself, because the character lives with love and gratitude to her ancestors. Performing this role again in the atmosphere celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Mai Vang Awards, I am very happy" - People's Artist Phuong Loan confided.
