Phan Đăng Hoàng presented his Ceramics collection at the Milan Royal Palace – a culturally and historically significant location in Italy – as part of Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025.
The collection comprises 40 designs inspired by Nguyen Phan Chanh's silk paintings and ceramic art, recreating images of Vietnamese women from 100 years ago through a modern and creative perspective.
The designs blend the characteristics of silk painting with the simplicity of classical Eastern art, Western sculpting techniques, and the soft curves of ceramics.
Through this collection, Phan Đăng Hoàng aims to showcase the gentleness, grace, and strength and individuality of Vietnamese women 100 years ago. The designer believes that the journey of fashion requires self-reflection. Therefore, his collections always maintain consistency in inspiration and are characterized by a focus on form and structure.
The details of the headscarf tying and the cutouts on the soft silk fabric perfectly reflect the spirit of Nguyen Phan Chanh's paintings: classic, traditional yet unconventional and modern. He also learned from the renowned painter's color coordination, harmoniously combining shades of brown, black, eggshell white, orange, betel nut red, olive green, and more.
Throughout the creative process, Phan Đăng Hoàng applied various methods and techniques to transform materials from "delicate" fabrics like chiffon, organza, silk, crepe, and lace to "robust" fabrics like denim, leather, raw silk, twill, cotton, and twist. Ultimately, the collection aims for three elements: pride, sophistication, and convention.
Phan Đăng Hoàng, born in 2000, graduated from the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Academy (Milan, Italy). In 2022, he participated in the Autumn/Winter Afro Fashion Week, with his collection featured in Vogue Italy. In 2023, Phan Đăng Hoàng attracted attention by showcasing his Sculpture collection at Milan Fashion Week. Last May, he was named in Forbes magazine's The Arts list of 30 Under 30 Asia (Most Influential Artists Under 30 in Asia).
