Following his success at last season 's Milan Fashion Week , designer Phan Đăng Hoàng will bring his new collection, titled Lacquer, to the fashion capital of Milan.

This collection draws design inspiration from the paintings of the renowned artist Nguyen Gia Tri, famous for his traditional lacquer paintings reflecting the beauty of Vietnamese culture, people, and rural landscapes.

Once again, Phan Đăng Hoàng chose design inspiration from renowned artists.

Phan Đăng Hoàng told Tuổi Trẻ Online that he also felt pressured and worried that people would get bored because he had previously drawn design inspiration from three other famous painters: Nguyễn Phan Chánh, Lê Phổ, and Lê Thị Lựu.

He decided to continue drawing design inspiration from paintings because he wanted to honor timeless beauty and affirm the enduring value created by the skillful hands and dedication of master craftsmen.

Phan Đăng Hoàng stated that the Lacquer collection comprises 30 designs for both men and women. Regarding materials, this time Phan Đăng Hoàng used over 80% environmentally friendly fabrics such as silk, raw silk, and Lãnh Mỹ A silk.

This was his first time applying Lãnh Mỹ A silk to his designs, with the hope of promoting Vietnamese silk to international friends through Milano Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026 .

The details and layers of fabric, like multiple coats of paint applied to each other, create a design that retains the aesthetic depth of a classic lacquer painting.

Phan Đăng Hoàng incorporated many warm and vibrant colors from the paintings of the renowned artist Nguyễn Gia Trí into his collection. Among them, the yellow and red colors symbolize the image of the Vietnamese national flag, expressing national spirit.

"The message Hoang wants to convey is love for his homeland told from the creative perspective of art lovers."

"Through the Lacquer collection, Hoang hopes that international friends will learn more about the cultural values, beautiful scenery, and people of Vietnam when they look at each detail in the fashion designs," Phan Dang Hoang shared.

The Lacquer collection will be showcased at Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026 on September 28th.
