NTO - Celebrating the 120th anniversary of Comrade Tran Phu's birth

On the morning of April 26, at the An Tho National Historical Site (An Dan Commune, Tuy An District), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Phu Yen Province held a ceremony to celebrate the 120th birthday of Comrade Tran Phu - the first General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (May 1, 1904 - May 1, 2024).

At the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Phu Yen province Cao Thi Hoa An and delegates together reviewed the life and glorious career of comrade Tran Phu - an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh , an exemplary, loyal, indomitable communist who devoted his whole life to the independence of the Fatherland and the happiness of the people.

Comrade Tran Phu came from a family of patriotic Confucian scholars, born in An Tho citadel, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province (now An Dan commune, Tuy An district) on May 1, 1904, where his father was a professor.

In July 1930, comrade Tran Phu was added to the provisional Central Executive Committee and was assigned to directly draft the Party's Political Platform. At the first meeting of the Party Central Executive Committee in October 1930, the Political Platform was approved, and comrade Tran Phu was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Due to the enemy's relentless terror and arrest, on April 18, 1931, comrade Tran Phu was arrested. They tortured him severely, causing his health to decline rapidly. On the morning of September 6, 1931, comrade Tran Phu breathed his last, saying goodbye to his compatriots and comrades at the age of 27. General Secretary Tran Phu passed away, but his immortal words "Keep up the fighting spirit!" are still a message to the next generations of communists.

Standing Deputy Secretary of Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee Cao Thi Hoa An affirmed that if Tung Anh commune (Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province) is proud to be the hometown of General Secretary Tran Phu, then the land of spiritual and talented people, An Dan commune (Tuy An district, Phu Yen province) is proud to be the birthplace of comrade Tran Phu. Following the example of comrade Tran Phu and his predecessors, since the Party's leadership, the Party Committee, army and people of Phu Yen have promoted the tradition of their homeland, overcome difficulties, and strived to achieve victories in the cause of national liberation, construction and defense of the Fatherland.

Currently, An Tho citadel - the birthplace of General Secretary Tran Phu - was ranked as a National Archaeological Site in 2005. With its great cultural and historical value and significance, this place is regularly maintained and embellished by the local government, ensuring the display of archaeological artifacts; introducing the life and revolutionary career of General Secretary Tran Phu. From there, fully conveying cultural and historical values ​​to the people and tourists. In addition to the tourist routes connecting cultural, historical relics and scenic spots that have been formed, Phu Yen province is focusing on building a tourist route connecting An Tho citadel relic with other tourist destinations in the area such as Ganh Da Dia, Hon Yen... creating a highlight in the journey to "Tuy An heritage land".
