The person mentioned is female intelligence officer Lam Thi Phet.

Mrs. Lam Thi Phet (1923-2014), was the daughter of a famous landowner and was also the principal of Taberd Can Tho (now Chau Van Liem School, Can Tho City). Mrs. Phet had an older sister - Lam Thi Phan, both possessed rare beauty, participated in intelligence activities, and made many contributions during the two resistance wars against French and American imperialism.

If Mrs. Lam Thi Phan was married to a landlord's family of the Bac Lieu Prince, Mrs. Phet married the son of the great landowner Chac Bang, Rach Gia province (now Vinh Thuan district, Kien Giang province).

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, daughter of Mrs. Lam Thi Phet, once said: "My father is Nguyen Huu Quy, son of Mr. Nguyen Huu Phu - a great landowner of Bang Bien Phu. My grandfather reclaimed the land along the Chac Bang canal and owned vast fields. The wealth of Bang Bien Phu is known everywhere."

During that time, during a visit to Can Tho, Mr. Quy met and fell in love with Mrs. Phet at first sight. He was so infatuated with her that he refused to return to Chac Bang, staying at his aunt’s house, a few hundred meters from Mr. Phan’s house. He decided to “live and sleep” there until he could marry Mrs. Phet. Mr. Quy’s parents knew about the matter, had to ask a matchmaker to convince Mrs. Phet’s grandmother to agree to marry her granddaughter.

From 1945, Mrs. Phet worked in the Women's Executive Committee of Vinh Thuan Commune, Chac Bang, Rach Gia Province, while Mr. Quy left to join the revolution. In 1948, she and her husband donated 2,000 bushels of rice to the resistance. After that, they left their hometown, abandoning thousands of hectares of rice fields to participate in revolutionary activities.

Mrs. Phet returned to Can Tho city to work as an intelligence officer under the command of the special intelligence branch of the Military Intelligence Department of Zone 9. She was responsible for contacting French officers and acting as an interpreter to obtain information. She also directly discovered and trained many good elements for the military intelligence force and intelligence bases within the enemy ranks.

In 1950, she was transferred to Saigon to work as a liaison and secret mailbox for the Military Intelligence Department of Zone 9.

In 1952, Mr. Quy was captured by the enemy and imprisoned in Chi Hoa. He was steadfast and did not reveal any information about the revolutionary team. As a result, he was tortured by the enemy and lost contact with his wife and children. From then on, Mrs. Phet waited every day, hoping for peace in the country so she could reunite with her husband.

While waiting for Mr. Quy, Mrs. Phet temporarily stopped working to avoid being detected by the enemy. In 1963, she returned to Saigon to work as an espionage agent. During this period, Mrs. Phet was very active, contributing much to the process of unifying the country.

In April 1966, when she received the news of her husband’s death, her heart ached with memories of the last time she saw him behind bars in Saigon prison. Perhaps it was that memory that made her choose to stay in this land filled with memories, after the day the country was at peace and unified.

Who would have thought that at the age of 70, she would still be proposed to by a rich doctor. If she agreed, he would immediately give her a villa on Tu Xuong Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. In response, she just smiled and gently refused.

Mrs. Phet chose to live with her children and grandchildren in Lu Gia residential area, District 11 until her last days. Currently, her grave is buried in her hometown of Can Tho.
