At 7:30 p.m. on November 2, the Hue City Hydrometeorological Station issued an emergency flood warning for rivers in the area. Accordingly, floods on rivers are rising rapidly, Huong River and Bo River are near level BĐ3, Ta Trach River is above BĐ1, O Lau River and Truoi River are rising.
Specifically, at 7:00 p.m. on November 2, the water level of the Huong River at Kim Long station was 3.49m, 0.01m below level 3; the Bo River at Phu Oc station was 4.25m, 0.25m below level 3; the O Lau River at Phong Binh station was 2.17m; the Truoi River at Truoi station was 2.18m; the Ta Trach River at Thuong Nhat station was 59.84m, 0.84m above level 1.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the flood level of Huong River will rise rapidly at level above BĐ3 (likely 0.4-0.6m lower than the recent flood peak); Bo River will rise rapidly at level above BĐ3 (likely 0.2-0.4m lower than the recent historical flood peak), Ta Trach River will rise near BĐ2, O Lau River and Truoi River will continue to fluctuate and rise at a high level. Flood risk warning level: Level 2-3.
Floods can cause widespread and prolonged flooding in downstream rivers, low-lying areas, urban areas, flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas, negatively affecting construction works, waterways, aquaculture, agriculture, cultural- economic -social activities, the environment and community health.
Thus, after only nearly 2 days of water receding, many low-lying areas in Hue are facing the risk of re-flooding as floods on rivers rise again due to heavy rain upstream.
