Mr. Do Van Chien was elected Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.

Mr. Do Van Chien, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, was elected Vice Chairman of the National Assembly on the morning of November 10.

On the morning of November 10, after conducting the personnel process, the National Assembly passed a resolution on the election of Vice Chairman of the 15th National Assembly for Standing Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee Do Van Chien.

Immediately afterwards, General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man , Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai... presented flowers to congratulate Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien.

Previously, the Politburo mobilized, assigned, and appointed Mr. Do Van Chien to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and hold the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien is a San Diu ethnic; born on November 10, 1962; hometown in Son Thuy Commune, Tuyen Quang Province.

Mr. Do Van Chien was a member of the Party Central Committee of the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Secretary of the Party Central Committee of the 13th term; and a National Assembly delegate of the 13th and 14th terms.

He has a degree in Agricultural Engineering and a Master's degree in Political Theory.

From October 1986 to October 1988: Staff, then Deputy Head of Administration - General Department, University of Agriculture III, Bac Thai.

From November 1988 to July 1993: Technical Assistant, Head of Production Coordination Department, then Party Committee member, Deputy Director of Tan Trao Tea Agricultural and Industrial Enterprise under the Vietnam Tea Enterprises Union.

From August 1993 to November 1994: Member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province.

From December 1994 to January 1996: Deputy Head of Finance and Administration Department, Tuyen Quang province.

From February 1996 to February 1998: Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee, then member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee.

From March 1998 to July 2001: Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province.

Pursuant to Decision No. 2500 dated November 4, 2025, the Politburo decided to appoint, transfer, and assign Comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central mass organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, to cease participating in the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat, cease participating in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Party Committee, cease holding the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central mass organizations for the 2020-2025 term. To assign, transfer, and appoint to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and hold the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

On November 10, 2025, at the 10th Session of the 15th National Assembly, Mr. Do Van Chien was elected by the National Assembly to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly.
