Temporary diversion of 3 inland waterways in Binh Dinh after the ban

The People's Committee of Binh Dinh province has just temporarily announced three inland waterway routes with a total length of about 15.5km to serve the development of transportation, tourism and effective management of coastal waters.

On June 3, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province announced the list of local inland waterway routes in the province with three inland waterway routes to manage and exploit the potential of waterway transport reasonably, serving the development of coastal tourism and local socio -economic development.

Three inland waterway routes with a total length of about 15.5km are located in Quy Nhon City, including: Nhon Ly - Ky Co route (5km long), Nhon Hai - Ky Co route (10km long) and Nhon Hai - Hon Kho route (0.5km long).

Regarding the Nhon Hai - Ky Co route, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province requires that the exploitation must ensure no overlap with the coastal transport route from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan announced by the Ministry of Construction .

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Danh - Chairman of Nhon Ly Commune People's Committee - said that the announcement of the list of waterways will help businesses in the area have a legal basis to resume operations, after the local government issued an order banning the operation of vehicles that do not meet the prescribed criteria. People are very excited because they have income during the peak summer tourist season.

"Before returning to operations, businesses must make a commitment to operate in accordance with regulations and strictly comply with waterway traffic safety conditions.

The locality also coordinates with units and authorities to regularly monitor canoe activities in the area," said Mr. Danh.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , after the jet ski accident that left one person dead in Nhon Hai commune, the Quy Nhon City People's Committee issued a document announcing the temporary suspension of operations for canoes and jet skis that do not meet the required conditions from May 2.

On May 26, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan concluded that the Department of Construction would preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to propose the announcement of inland waterway routes for vehicles eligible to participate in traffic, and report to the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for direction at the nearest meeting.

At the same time, propose the construction of inland waterway ports for ships serving sea tourists in the province; report to the Provincial People's Committee before June 20.

For vehicles and drivers participating in inland waterway traffic activities serving tourism, they must ensure full compliance with the provisions of law; vehicles that do not meet technical requirements, do not have an operating license, or drivers who do not have a practice certificate are strictly prohibited from participating in transporting passengers and tourists in the province's sea area.
