After years of international service in Cambodia, veteran Pham Ba Tan returned to his hometown in Dong Tam village, Quang Chinh commune. Not resigned to poverty, he rented the barren land to renovate and develop the VAC economic model. From the barren land, veteran Pham Ba Tan has built a prosperous farm, each year harvesting about 20 tons of fish; 4 tons of livestock and poultry; 1.5 tons of frog meat along with more than 5 tons of rice and 3 tons of various fruits, earning 500-600 million VND/year. Veteran Pham Ba Tan confided: "I always keep in mind that the will and spirit of a soldier is not only shown on the battlefield but must also be promoted in peacetime, that is, turning difficulties into motivation to rise up".

Veteran Nguyen Huu Tho in Nguu Phuong village, Quang Chinh commune left part of his body on the Vi Xuyen battlefield (former Ha Giang province). He lost his right arm, suffered a 61% disability, but his strong will never faded. Every day, veteran Nguyen Huu Tho still works hard to take care of his family, taking on big and small tasks for his sick wife. He said: "Even though I lost an arm, I still live strongly, doing my best to take care of my family and help those around me as much as I can." Without a large enterprise or large-scale economic model, veteran Nguyen Huu Tho's will to live and his kindness have become a source of inspiration for many people in the area...

Commenting on the examples of war veterans, comrade Vu Van Chau, Chairman of the War Veterans Association of Quang Chinh commune proudly said: “They were once loyal soldiers on the battlefield, and now they are shining examples in the movement to develop the economy, build cultural life, and maintain security and order. Comrades like Pham Ba Tan and Nguyen Huu Tho represent the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in peacetime, and are the nucleus of solidarity and dedication in the community.”
