According to Mr. Pham Cong Phong, Head of the Dinh Lap Regional Forest Protection Department, before 2020, the forest planting, management and protection in the area managed by the unit were carried out spontaneously and without a systematic method. However, after 5 years of implementing the forest certification work, the forest planting mindset of the local people has changed positively. Therefore, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the unit has continued to implement many solutions to expand the area of certified forests. This is also aimed at expanding the wood material area in the area.
Specifically, in 2025, the Dinh Lap Regional Forest Protection Department coordinated with the People's Committees of communes to organize 60 training sessions for nearly 1,400 forest owners of household groups participating in CCR in the area. In particular, we focused on communicating the goals and meanings of the program. At the same time, we disseminated and provided in-depth guidance to people from the steps of planting forests, caring for and treating the ground cover to the steps of exploitation as well as how to use labor. At the same time, the unit has issued forest certificates for an area of 4,000 hectares in 3 communes: Kien Moc, Dinh Lap, Chau Son, bringing the total area of certified forests in the area to more than 19,000 hectares (mainly pine, acacia, eucalyptus).
In addition to the forest area managed by Dinh Lap Regional Forest Protection Department, in 2025, the provincial forestry sector also expanded the certified forest area to 3 new communes: Vu Le, Nhat Hoa, and Tan Tri. Mr. Cao Xuan Cuong, Head of Bac Son Regional Forest Protection Department, said: In 2025, the district has reviewed the planted forest area in the area to ensure the criteria for forest certification. From there, the Department has coordinated with Thanh An Company Limited ( Lang Son ) and related units to complete the documents and procedures for granting CCR for 1,500 hectares of forest in the area. This includes trees such as acacia, eucalyptus, and tallow in 3 communes: Vu Le, Nhat Hoa, and Tan Tri. In the period of 2026 - 2030, the unit will continue to review and expand the certified forest area.
Along with the propaganda, the work of monitoring and checking the criteria for maintaining CCR according to regulations continues to be regularly carried out by relevant units. It is known that CCR is granted for a period of 5 years. However, the inspection of certified forest areas is coordinated by units every year.
Mr. Do Van Nhan, Inspector of GFA - the unit assessing the implementation of CCR in Lang Son province, said: Currently, the unit is conducting inspections of 4,000 hectares of certified forests in Lang Son province. During the inspection and evaluation process, we will select forest plots and areas based on the prescribed criteria. On that basis, we use direct investigation methods to verify information on the current status of the forest compared with the granted certificate. At the same time, we check technical standards on density, environmental protection, and anti-erosion in the certified forest area. In addition, the evaluation is also carried out by directly interviewing forest owners about related information. Basically, the household groups have implemented the principles well, meeting the criteria of certified forests.
According to the objective of the content of CCR issuance in the Sustainable Forestry Development Project, in the period of 2020 - 2025, the whole province will have 5,000 hectares of certified forest and the above area will reach 10,000 hectares in the period of 2026 - 2030. With synchronous solutions and determination in CCR issuance, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the area of certified forest has increased by 5,500 hectares compared to 2024, bringing the total area of certified forest in the province to more than 20,000 hectares. Compared to the target set for the period of 2020 - 2025, the above area has exceeded 15,000 hectares.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Head of the Provincial Forest Protection Department, commented: The issuance of CCR has been contributing to changing the mindset of local forest growers. From cultivating forests in the traditional and spontaneous way, people are increasingly implementing technical processes from selecting seedlings to planting, caring for, and exploiting forests. Not only that, the expansion of certified forest areas also contributes to meeting the demand for high-quality raw materials for processing, improving the competitiveness of the province's forest products. Therefore, in the coming time, the unit will continue to promote propaganda, mobilization and support for people to participate in the issuance of CCR; at the same time, closely coordinate with local authorities and related units to monitor the implementation of CCR criteria according to regulations.
Currently, the forest area in the area is about 600,000 hectares. With the above strengths, promoting the issuance of CCR will contribute to meeting the demand for high-quality raw materials for processing. From there, creating a premise for people to get rich from the forest, contributing to the development of the local economy and society.
