On the morning of November 7, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, inspected and directed urgent repairs to the Phu Dien Cham tower relic site, which had been submerged in water for a long time.

At the time of inspection, witnessing the Phu Dien Cham tower relic submerged in water, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh criticized the management unit and local authorities for being slow in reporting and implementing a treatment plan, allowing the relic to be flooded for many days.
At the same time, direct the mobilization of more water pumps; relevant units and local authorities must be on duty, monitor regularly, ensure that all water is pumped out by November 7 and report the results to the Hue City People's Committee.
In the long term, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh suggested that the management unit needs to conduct research and propose more effective protection plans for the relic, especially drainage and flood prevention solutions to ensure safety for the relic and surrounding areas.

Previously in 2001, Phu Dien Cham tower was discovered by people mining titanium ore in Phuong Dien and My Khanh villages (Phu Dien commune).
The government and cultural management agency at that time excavated the ancient structure. The unique ancient tower was buried deep in the sand 5-7m above the ground, only about 1.8-3m above sea level and about 100m from the sea edge.
Researchers determined that the age of Phu Dien Cham tower is similar to the style of Cham towers in My Son sanctuary, around the 8th century and is among the earliest construction relics in Vietnam discovered so far.

With the historical values of the tower, the former Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) decided to rank Phu Dien Cham tower as a National Architectural and Artistic Relic in 2001.
In 2022, the Vietnam Record Organization decided to set a Vietnamese record for Phu Dien Cham tower with the criterion: "The first ancient Cham tower sunk deep under the coastal sand dunes excavated and preserved in Vietnam" .
In the same year, the World Record Union also decided to set a world record for Phu Dien Cham tower based on the criteria: "The first ancient brick Cham tower in the world, sunk deep under a coastal sand dune, excavated and preserved".
