Victor Vu will not be directing the new detective film.

After the success of Detective Kien, screenwriter Duc Nguyen and director Victor Vu continue to reunite in a new film project called Almost Perfect Murder. However, both take on new positions: Duc Nguyen sits in the director's chair, while Victor Vu takes on the role of creative director.

After more than 10 years working in the film industry, Duc Nguyen - the man behind many film scripts highly appreciated by experts and audiences such as: The Immortal , The Last Wife , Red Flower Farm or Detective Kien, is sitting in the director's chair for the first time for a film work.

If in the most recent project - Detective Kien impressed with the ancient atmosphere, solid detective script and mysterious atmosphere, then in this comeback, Duc Nguyen chose a newer direction: a detective work combining comedy and romance genres, with a close and rhythmic narrative.

In particular, right from the name of the film, Almost Perfect Murder evokes a feeling of both seriousness and humor, just like the film genre that Duc Nguyen and Victor Vu pursue.

According to Duc Nguyen, the investigative journey in his first film as a director not only explores a mysterious murder case but also delves into the dark corners of humanity, with a gentle and humorous tone.

As for Victor Vu, the decision to leave the director's chair to become creative director was because he was always interested in film projects that chose a different path from a familiar genre. According to him, the way Duc Nguyen told a detective story while still maintaining the quality of life and laughter was what convinced him and made him accept the role of creative director for the film.

Almost Perfect Murder is set in a modern setting and revolves around two main characters: a "mindless" TikToker and a "rude" detective, seemingly unrelated people caught up in the same mysterious case. An "almost perfect murder", where the line between love, jealousy and crime is fragile.

Although the specific content has not been revealed, the crew said that the film will explore the issue of "injustice must be cleared". However, the funny and sad adventure of the unfortunate couple will focus on how people face prejudice, doubt and the truth, instead of a tense and sensational atmosphere.

The film is currently in pre-production and has just officially started shooting. The crew hopes to complete and release the film in 2026.
