On November 7, the People's Committee of Cho Lon Ward (HCMC) coordinated with Luu Trang Law Firm to organize a mock trial for defendant Dang Van Son (born in 2003, residing in Cho Lon Ward, HCMC) for the crime of "Evading military service". The panel of judges sentenced Son to 1 year in prison.
According to the indictment, in November 2023, Dang Van Son received an invitation to undergo a medical examination for military service and was recruited. Although the military service order was sent properly, Son did not appear at the correct time and place without a valid reason. Therefore, in March 2024, Son was fined 50 million VND for administrative violations.

Mock trials are held on mobile platforms to disseminate the law.
By the end of 2024, Son was again summoned for a medical examination for military service in 2025. In October 2024, the ward team delivered a notice from the ward military service council and Son signed to receive it. The notice required Son to be present at the medical examination location, but Son did not attend the examination as requested.
In October 2024, the ward team continued to issue orders to conduct a scheduled health check, but Son continued to refuse to come for the check-up. The ward People's Committee transferred the case file showing signs of criminal violations to the Investigation Police Agency (Ho Chi Minh City Police) for handling according to regulations.
At the investigation agency, Son confessed to his crime.
