Previously, on the afternoon of November 6, part of the tide-prevention sluice under Doi Bridge broke. The incident coincided with high tide.

At 6:00 p.m. the same day, the broken sewer combined with high tides caused Saigon River water to quickly flood into the surrounding residential area.

Immediately afterwards, the local government mobilized more than 40 people from the military , relevant agencies and units to coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Irrigation Service Management Company to urgently go to the scene to reinforce the broken tide sluice.

By 7 p.m., the initial recovery work was basically under control. Forces continued to be on duty through the night to handle the incident.
According to Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper reporters, the reinforcement and repair of the broken point is still being continued to cope with the next high tides.

A leader of the An Phu Dong Ward People's Committee added that the locality had been aware of the crack appearing in a section of the wall of the tidal gate early on. So when the tidal gate broke, the local government proactively coordinated with the management unit to take initial measures by placing barriers to limit water ingress. The locality recorded no major damage in this incident.
