Regarding the incident where athlete Vo Thi My Tien burst into tears after winning the silver medal in the women's 400m individual medley at the SEA Games 33 on the evening of December 13th, the leaders of the Vietnamese sports delegation have taken steps to work directly with the leaders of the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association to discuss and clarify the issue.

Regarding the situation involving My Tien, it is necessary to share and offer timely encouragement to the athletes at the SEA Games.

Specifically, on the podium for the women's 400m individual medley, after completing the ceremonies, a leader of the Aquatic Sports Association approached and spoke with Vo Thi My Tien, after which the 20-year-old athlete choked up and burst into tears. Just seconds before, she had been very happy to receive the silver medal.

Since Anh Vien retired from competition, Vietnamese swimming has not won any more gold medals in women's events, so the pressure on the athletes is immense. In particular, My Tien is currently the number one hope for Vietnamese women's swimming, even though she is only 20 years old.

According to information from the Vietnamese sports delegation, immediately after learning about the incident, the delegation's leaders proactively discussed the matter with the Association's leaders to reach a consensus on the management and support of athletes at the 33rd SEA Games. The Vietnamese sports delegation emphasized their desire for team leaders, as well as representatives of federations and associations, to show empathy, encouragement, and support for athletes not only during competition but throughout their training, preparation, and participation in the Games.

The 33rd SEA Games is a major competition where athletes face high pressure regarding performance, psychology, and expectations. Paying due attention to mental well-being is considered a crucial factor in helping athletes perform consistently and perform at their best.

The Vietnamese sports delegation affirmed that it will continue to coordinate with federations and associations to ensure a positive competition environment, thereby creating the best conditions for athletes to focus on contributing and fulfilling their nhiệm vụ at the 33rd SEA Games.
