"Emilia Pérez" dominated the awards known as the "French Golden Globes", taking home five major awards including: Best Film, Director, Screenplay, Best Actress for Karla Sofía Gascón and the award for music . The Lumiere awards were voted on by journalists from 38 countries in France.
Since being honored at the Cannes Film Festival with the Jury Prize and the award for the female cast, "Emilia Pérez" has emerged as one of the top candidates in the race. The film is a musical in Spanish language revolving around the main character, a woman who is actually a notorious transgender boss. In the film, Selene Gomez gave an impressive performance, receiving a series of nominations and prestigious awards. At the American Golden Globe Awards, the film also surprised everyone when it took the lead with 4 wins.

"Emilia Pérez" director Jacques Audiard also broke records in the history of the Lumiere Awards. The film marked his third time winning Best Film, after "The Beat That My Heart Skipped" in 2006 and "The Sisters Brother" in 2019; and his fourth time winning Best Director, after "A Prophet" in 2010, "Rust and Bone" in 2013 and "The Sisters Brother" in 2019.
The Lumiere Awards kick off France's annual awards season. The Cesar Awards, the country's equivalent of the Oscars, will take place on February 28.
