Due to the heavy rains from Typhoon No. 5, 1,800 out of 2,338 hectares of summer-autumn rice in Kim Lien commune were completely destroyed. This situation also occurred in several other localities after the heavy rains, to varying degrees. Currently, farmers are focusing on harvesting the summer-autumn rice crops that were not flooded.

Besides damaging agricultural production, heavy rains also caused landslides along several canals in the area. Inspecting a landslide site on the low-lying canal bank downstream of the Bara Nam Dan sluice gate in Van An commune, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the local authorities and relevant departments to report specifically on the landslide situation and propose remedial measures.

Next, Comrade Nguyen Van De inspected the progress of the summer-autumn rice harvest in Do Luong and Van Hien communes. To date, farmers have harvested 50-70% of the rice crop. However, due to the impact of natural disasters, rain, and floods, rice yields in these areas are lower than in previous years. The communes are directing farmers to focus on harvesting the summer-autumn rice quickly, especially given the forecast of rain in the coming days.
In Thuan Trung commune, the working group also inspected the high-quality pure rice production model of DT18. This is the third year this rice variety has been introduced into production in some localities in Nghe An province , with an area of about 500 hectares in this year's summer-autumn crop, an expected yield of about 52 quintals/hectare, and delicious, easily marketable rice quality.

According to information from the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, Nghe An province has so far harvested approximately 25,000 hectares of summer-autumn rice, reaching over 30% of the total area.
After inspecting the actual situation and listening to reports from localities and units, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De directed: Localities need to focus manpower, manage the use of machinery services well in their areas, and take advantage of sunny and favorable weather to quickly and efficiently harvest the summer-autumn rice crop that is over 70% ripe, with the motto "Better to harvest while still green than to let it rot in the field" in conditions with many potential risks due to late-season rain and flooding.
