On November 16, in Ia Nan commune ( Gia Lai province), Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the primary and secondary boarding school project in 7 border communes of Gia Lai province.

Also attending the ceremony were Mr. Pham Quang Hung - Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information ( Ministry of Education and Training ), leaders of central and local ministries, departments and branches.

The project has a total investment of more than VND 1,516 billion from the central and provincial budgets, with 212 classrooms, serving about 7,420 students, expected to be put into use in the 2026-2027 school year.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: Gia Lai has a strategic position in terms of national defense and security, and is also a new growth pole in the Central Highlands region.

However, the border communes still face many difficulties, with a high rate of poor households and students having to go to school in scattered and difficult conditions. The construction of border boarding schools, including 7 schools in Gia Lai, is a correct policy, demonstrating the strategic vision of the Party and the State. Thereby, helping students have better learning conditions, contributing to improving people's knowledge, lighting up dreams and meeting the learning aspirations of children in border areas.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung said that these schools are also spiritual, cultural and national unity symbols, with profound political, social and humanitarian significance. Once completed, the schools will become places for students to study, play and rest with full facilities.

Therefore, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee focuses on directing to ensure the quality and progress of construction. Along with that, it is requested that the Ministry of Education and Training soon complete the mechanism and policies to ensure the best conditions for accommodation, travel and study for students.

In addition, schools need to build appropriate management mechanisms and improve the quality of teaching staff; local authorities are responsible for encouraging children to attend school regularly; students need to strive to excel in their studies, become good citizens, and contribute to the development of their homeland and country.

Creating sustainable learning opportunities

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trong Quynh - Chairman of Ia Nan Commune People's Committee expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State, Government, Ministry of Education and Training, Provincial Party Committee and Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee for paying special attention to education in border areas.

According to Mr. Quynh, the construction of the Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities in Ia Nan Commune will create favorable conditions for nearly 1,000 students who are children of ethnic minorities and poor households to study and live in a better environment. At the same time, it will contribute to improving people's knowledge, developing human resources, strengthening national defense and security, building a peaceful, stable and sustainable border.

“Today’s groundbreaking ceremony is not only a joy and pride for teachers and students of Ia Nan commune, but also a symbol of the belief and aspiration of the people in the border area on the journey of innovation and development. I wish the project will be completed soon, becoming a bright spot in education and a symbol of the aspiration for border development in the new period,” Mr. Quynh shared.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that, implementing the Conclusion Notice No. 81-TB/TW of the Politburo and Resolution 298/NQ-CP of the Government, Gia Lai was selected by the Central Government to invest in building 7 inter-level boarding schools in 7 border communes. This is a major policy, with profound political, social and humanistic significance, demonstrating the special attention of the Party and State to the people and students in the border areas of the Fatherland.

Speaking at the ceremony, the provincial leaders emphasized the need to implement the project in the spirit of "6 clear": clear people, clear work, clear time, clear results, clear responsibilities, clear authority. The province requested the investor and related units to be decisive, urgent, certain and effective. At the same time, closely inspect and supervise to prevent negativity, ensuring the project is completed before August 30, 2026.

Along with that, localities need to fully prepare conditions in terms of teaching staff, essential infrastructure and perfect specific support mechanisms and policies to be ready to put schools into operation from the 2026-2027 school year.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: "With the attention of the Central Government and the consensus of the whole province, the project of 7 inter-level boarding schools will be completed on schedule, becoming a symbol of the aspirations of children in the Gia Lai border area."

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung presented gifts to 5 policy families (gifts and gifts worth 5 million VND/household), 20 teachers (2 million VND/person) and 20 students (gifts and gifts worth 1.5 million VND/student) in difficult circumstances.
