50 years of a shining journey

On the morning of November 16, Cao Thang High School solemnly held the 50th Anniversary Ceremony (1975 - 2025). Attending the ceremony were representatives of departments, branches and sectors of Ha Tinh province; many generations of alumni along with teachers and students of the school. Mr. Ha Van Hung, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Bui Nham Sam, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh attended and congratulated.

From the difficult Khe Co to the solid school today

In August 1975, in the jubilant atmosphere of the country's reunification day, Ha Tinh province decided to establish high schools that "study while working". Among them, Cao Thang High School was located in Khe Co (Son Le commune) - a sacred land associated with the name of the famous general of the Can Vuong movement, hero Cao Thang.

In the early days, the facilities were almost empty. Teachers and students lived in dormitories, studied and increased production to maintain their lives and studies. Under the guidance of Mr. Phung Ba My - the first Principal, and 24 dedicated teachers and staff, the flame of knowledge was lit in the mountains and forests, opening a difficult but brilliant journey of spreading knowledge.

In 1978, the school moved to Son Tay commune and switched to a general education model. Without funds, teachers and students planted forests and exploited wood to build classrooms and buy desks and chairs. Under the leadership of teachers Dinh Quoc Thuan and Nguyen Khac Nhuong, the border school gradually stood firm, laying the foundation for later development.

When the country entered the period of innovation, generations of leaders such as Mr. Nguyen Tan, Tran Quang Vinh, Tran Hoai, Tran Dinh Chien, Ho Tien Duong continued to foster the tradition of solidarity and creativity, making the school a bright spot in education in Ha Tinh. From that small school, thousands of students grew up, many of them holding important positions in agencies and businesses, contributing to their homeland and country.

Since achieving national standards in 2015, Cao Thang High School has continuously innovated teaching methods, promoted digital transformation, created a comprehensive learning environment, and helped students develop their capacity and qualities according to the requirements of the new era.

For many consecutive years, the school has maintained high results in the high school graduation exam. In the 2022-2023 school year, the school ranked 15th in the province; in the 2023-2024 school year, it rose to 4th place, with Chemistry leading, English and History both in the top 5. Continuing the achievements, in the 2024-2025 school year, Cao Thang students continued to shine when History ranked 1st; English and Chemistry ranked 5th in the province.

Mr. Ho Tien Duong, Principal of Cao Thang High School, shared about the achievements of teachers and students over the past 50 years.

The movement of excellent students, scientific research, sports, and arts developed strongly; hundreds of students achieved 27 university points or more, many won provincial and national prizes.

The school currently has dozens of excellent teachers at the provincial level, 28 emulation fighters, and 3 typical advanced teachers in the period 2020-2025. The school has been awarded the title of Advanced Labor Collective for many consecutive years; and has been awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President along with many certificates of merit from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Provincial People's Committee.

Keeping the tradition alive, towards a happy school

Not only focusing on achievements, Cao Thang High School also promotes humanistic values, building a "happy school", where every teacher is an inspiration, every student is loved, respected and their abilities are developed.

Speaking at the ceremony, teacher Ho Tien Duong, Principal of the school, shared: “Over the past half century, generations of teachers and students have devoted themselves to the cause of educating people, writing an epic poem in the mountains and forests of Huong Son. We are proud of the tradition of studiousness, solidarity and aspiration to rise up of the school named after the famous general Cao Thang.”

According to Mr. Duong, entering the era of knowledge and technology, the school aims to build a "smart school", expand the digital learning space, help students access global knowledge right in their homeland; at the same time, preserve the character, compassion and self-reliance - the values that have created the identity of Cao Thang over the past 50 years.

At the ceremony, Mr. Ha Van Hung, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee, sent his congratulations and acknowledged the school's efforts over the years.

From the small school in Khe Co years ago, Cao Thang today has a spacious and modern appearance. Each brick here contains the efforts and dedication of many generations of teachers, students, parents, and people who have sown seeds of knowledge to reap a harvest of happiness.

Mr. Nguyen The Hoan - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee (former student of the 1992-1995 class) emotionally shared his memories of his years studying at Cao Thang School, affirming that this is the place that fostered his will and aspirations to become the adult he is today.

50 years – a proud journey and a foundation for Cao Thang High School to continue to grow strongly. With the flame of tradition, love for the profession and the desire for innovation, the school will continue to shine in the remote border region, as a symbol of intelligence, bravery and humanity of the people of Ha Tinh.
