On the morning of November 16, An Duong High School (An Duong Ward, Hai Phong City) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate its 60th anniversary. This is an opportunity for the school's leadership, teachers, staff and students to "review the past and learn from the present", to be proud of the educational achievements that generations of teachers and students have cultivated and built.
Joining the celebration with teachers and students of the school were Mr. Do Manh Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Mr. Le Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee; representatives of leaders of the city's and local departments, branches and sectors.
In that joyful and excited atmosphere, Mr. Vu Van Huy, the school's principal, recalled: An Duong High School was established in August 1965 with the birth name of An Duong High School. Just a few months after its establishment, in the first school year, the American invaders attacked the North and directly bombed Hai Phong. The teachers and students of the school had to evacuate twice to the communes of Dang Cuong, Tan Tien, Quoc Tuan, Hong Phong and were divided into two branches: Hong Phong High School and Dang Cuong High School.

During the first 10 years of the school’s establishment, teachers and students had to study in classrooms made of bamboo and thatch, with mud walls and thatched roofs. They also had to study in village pagodas and people’s houses. Despite numerous difficulties, teachers and students taught and studied, avoided bombs and bullets, and participated in production and fought with the local people…
It was not until peace was restored in the North in 1973 that the school was returned to its current location and given its original name, An Duong High School, now An Duong High School.
