(Chinhphu.vn) – During a working trip to Ha Tinh to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the Son Kim 1 Primary and Secondary Boarding School project, on the morning of November 9, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh visited and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station.

The Cau Treo International Border Guard Station is assigned to manage and protect a 44.124 km long border section, 16 border markers and 2 markers; bordering 5 villages of the two districts of Kham Cot and Xay Cham Pon in Bolikhamxay province (Laos). The management area includes 2 border communes (Son Kim 1 and Son Kim 2 communes) with a population of 2,807 households/10,873 people, including 9 ethnic groups with 273 households/709 people. In the area, there is 1 parish and 2 parishes, with 409 households/1,500 parishioners.

Thanks to the leadership and direction of the Party, State, Government, ministries, branches, local Party committees and authorities at all levels, units have successfully carried out assigned political tasks.

Specifically, the unit always masters and controls all situations at the internal and external borders; organizes patrols and controls to protect the integrity of the border system and national border markers; maintains political security and social order and safety in border areas and border gates.

Effectively fight against all types of crime. From the beginning of 2025 to now, the unit has presided over and coordinated with forces to detect, arrest and handle 6 cases/7 subjects. Of which, drug crimes are 3 cases/4 subjects; smuggling and trade fraud crimes are 2 cases/2 subjects; illegal transportation of military weapons is 1 case/1 subject. Confiscated evidence is 43.1 kg of drugs of all kinds; 23,000 synthetic drug pills; 240 kg of marijuana; 1.2 kg of gold; 84 kg of fireworks; 2 military guns, 19 bullets and related evidence.

At the same time, the work of managing and controlling entry and exit has been well implemented; exit and entry procedures have been completed for 442,133 people and 138,239 vehicles. Administrative procedure reform has been promoted, creating favorable and transparent conditions for people, vehicles and goods to cross the border gate. Ensuring safety for international, domestic and foreign delegations to cross the border gate, enter and exit the border area to invest, cooperate, visit, celebrate holidays and New Year; participate in important events organized by the country and locality.

Doing well the border foreign affairs work, with specific actions, bringing practical results. Paying attention to building and consolidating the political base of the area in charge; effectively implementing models and programs, including the program to help children go to school, the unit has supported 11 poor students (6 Vietnamese; 5 Lao) each, 500,000 VND per month.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh commended, acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and results achieved by officers and soldiers of the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station in performing their assigned tasks, especially in firmly protecting the country's borders; crime prevention; developing foreign relations with localities of Laos; and propagating and disseminating to the people the implementation of the Party and State's policies, guidelines and laws.

Emphasizing that the areas managed by the border posts, including the Cau Treo International Border Post, are all key areas with important positions in terms of national defense and security, but the people's lives are still difficult; the intellectual level of the people is somewhat limited; the crime situation, especially cross-border crime, is still complicated; the terrain is difficult to travel; ... this poses challenges for the officers and soldiers of the unit, requiring each officer and soldier of the Cau Treo International Border Post to make more efforts to best complete the assigned tasks.

Affirming that the Party and State always pay special attention and allocate large resources to invest in border areas, remote and isolated areas, including the policy of building schools for border communes and today, in the locality, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Son Kim 1 Primary - Secondary Boarding School project, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh hopes that officers and soldiers of the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station need to pay special attention to the work of supporting, propagating and mobilizing people to send their children to school, ensuring that all children can go to school, not drop out of school and receive fair and equal access to education. If so, the policy of building schools in border areas will be successful and have practical significance.

"In border areas, under difficult circumstances, border guards often have to take on the role of doctors, teachers, etc. Therefore, each comrade must be clearly aware of his or her responsibilities, must make every effort, constantly strive to learn, and must have comprehensive knowledge," said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh.
