The two places that Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly visited and gave gifts on the occasion of International Children's Day are in Dien Bien district, where teaching and learning conditions for teachers and students still face many difficulties.

Through the forest to two schools

Departing from Dien Bien Phu City early in the morning, the journey to two schools in Hua Thanh and Muong Pon communes helped the delegation feel the difficulties and hardships of teachers and students here.

It took nearly an hour to travel on paved roads, through forests and through hairpin bends where vehicles had to give way to each other, before the group arrived at their first destination, the primary school and kindergarten in Nam Ty 1 and 2 villages in Hua Thanh commune.

The village has 100% Mong ethnic people, with the rate of poor and near-poor households accounting for 91%. People in the village live mainly by farming.

After the school in Nam Ty 1 and 2 villages, the group continued through the forest to the primary and kindergarten school in Huoi Un village, Muong Pon commune. This is also the place where 100% of the Mong ethnic people live by farming.

Despite many economic difficulties, people in both villages still strive to take care of their families and educate their children. At the two schools, upon hearing that a delegation was coming to visit on Children's Day, many children rushed out to welcome them.

Some children, with neatly wrapped bouquets of wild flowers, approached Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly to give them. Moved by the sincere feelings of the children, she bowed, kindly asked about them and held their hands, walking with them into the small but neat schools.

In a warm and intimate atmosphere, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly celebrated Children's Day with students at two schools.

The feast consisted of cakes, candies, and milk boxes prepared by the uncles and aunts in the delegation and displayed on fresh banana leaves brought by the students’ parents and teachers. Sitting among the children, she kindly unwrapped the cakes and candies for them and asked about them, reminding them to always be obedient and study hard.

Meaningful gifts

To encourage students to study hard and encourage their parents to continue to care abouteducation , Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly and members of the delegation went to each table and gave small gifts to the children. The gifts included children's books, backpacks, water bottles, candy and some school supplies.

Eager to receive gifts, many children immediately put on their backpacks and said in unison, "We thank you, uncles!"

Sharing the difficulties of Nam Ty 1 and 2 schools, the General Secretary's wife respectfully donated two clean water projects. Thereby solving one of the concerns of teachers and students, contributing to ensuring the health as well as teaching and learning conditions of teachers and students here.

She also happily started a children's song, clapping and singing with the children.

Moved by the Madam's heart and affection, many students came to where she sat, respectfully giving her simple gifts such as corn, cassava... made by their own families.

At the Huoi Un school, the wife of General Secretary To Lam and leaders of the Central Party Office and the locality personally presented gifts to the students and presented the school with two semi-boarding kitchens.

This will be the place where children can "fill their stomachs" on their journey to conquer letters and knowledge, for a brighter future.

"Today go to school far, the future road is near"

The visit and gift-giving by Madam Ngo Phuong Ly to students in two border communes of Dien Bien province demonstrated her close concern for the future generation. The activity was even more meaningful as it took place on International Children's Day.

At both schools, the Lady expressed her emotion when witnessing with her own eyes the border conditions such as remote roads, no electricity and clean water, but teachers and students still stick to school and class. She also shared her joy when seeing the health and determination to teach and learn of the teachers and students here.

"'Today we go to school far, the road to the future is near' as Dung just sang, I hope that you will all be determined to study hard, listen to your parents and teachers, strive to become good children and good students, and later become good citizens of Dien Bien and contribute to the rich and beautiful country. Do you promise and be determined with me?", the General Secretary's wife asked, addressing the students.

"We do" - the students at Huoi Un school answered in unison.

According to the Lady, Children's Day is not only an occasion for children to play, sing and receive gifts, but also an occasion for adults such as parents and teachers to look back on their sacred responsibility in protecting, caring for and educating children.

Sending a message to the teachers in Hua Thanh and Muong Pon communes, the Lady acknowledged and thanked the sacrifice, dedication and perseverance of those who have not been afraid of difficulties in bringing letters to the mountains. She hoped that the teachers would be assured in their career of educating people, and sent her best wishes for good health and success in their work to those who are contributing to nurturing dreams and lighting up the future for the young buds of the country.

Addressing the parents of the students, she hoped that parents would feel secure in the care and attention of the Party and the State, and the education of teachers. The General Secretary's wife also hoped that in the coming time, parents would work with the school and teachers to take care of their children and help them develop, and join hands in raising the future buds of the country.

On this occasion, representatives of some benefactors also donated funds to upgrade some facilities as well as clothes and shoes to students at two schools Nam Ty 1, 2 and Huoi Un.
