• Nghia rice shop
  • "Free breakfast" with warm parish love
  • Spread love with "Zero-dong Cabinet"

Initially, the restaurant only served at a single location, the headquarters of Hamlet 2, Ward 1, Gia Rai town (now the headquarters of Hamlet 2, Gia Rai ward , Ca Mau province), opened on two days a week, Thursday and Friday, mainly serving workers in the area. Gradually, thanks to the enthusiastic support of the community and the needs of many ordinary workers in the neighboring area who wanted to have "delicious, nutritious, cheap" breakfasts, the organizers of "3K Noodle Shop" decided to open a second location at Gia Rai market, serving on Saturdays and Sundays.

3K noodle shop in Hamlet 2, Gia Rai ward is implemented by the Youth Union in collaboration with the Hamlet Party Cell.

As scheduled, on the morning of Saturday, July 19, we arrived at the 3K noodle shop in the Gia Rai market area. Although it was not yet 7 o'clock, the shop was already packed with customers, most of whom were ordinary workers coming for breakfast. The space of the shop in the market was somewhat limited, but the noodle cart was neatly arranged, clean, and attractive. The menu was rich with all kinds of meat, eggs, and sausages; the broth was simmered from fragrant and sweet pork bones, ensuring quality.

The restaurant has two busy “chefs”: one boils noodles and rice noodles; the other quickly slices onions, cuts meat, and seasonings… but still can’t keep up with the growing number of customers. The restaurant is served by youth union members and members of the neighborhood’s People’s Committee. One brings hot bowls of noodles, another pours water, clears tables, and washes dishes; everyone is sweating but still smiles happily, happy to contribute to bringing delicious and cheap breakfast to everyone.

The Youth Union members of Hamlet 2 serve at the restaurant.

Mr. Trinh Trong Binh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hamlet 2, said that there are still many difficult circumstances in the area. Based on ideas from other places, he and the youth union members, with the support of the leaders, the Hamlet People's Committee and benefactors, joined hands to open the 3K noodle shop as it is today.

Each day, the restaurant serves an average of more than 100 bowls of noodles and hu tieu to people. Although the price is only 3,000 VND/bowl, it is full of meat, eggs, vegetables, ensuring nutrition, helping everyone have a delicious breakfast , full stomach and enough energy for a new working day.

Ta Chi Tinh (17 years old), a shipper in Gia Rai ward, commented after finishing a bowl of noodles: "This breakfast is both delicious and cheap for me; I think it helps a lot for workers."

Many workers have breakfast at the restaurant.

Similarly, Ms. Le Thi En (54 years old), who sells lottery tickets in Hamlet 2 and Hamlet 3, Gia Rai Ward, said that she has eaten at the 3K noodle shop many times, and eats there every day it sells. "I eat a bowl of noodles like that, it's delicious and filling, and then I go sell until the afternoon. Eating here, I saved 20 thousand, and sold 20 lottery tickets," Ms. En happily said.

The restaurant was opened with the aim of supporting people in difficult circumstances and spreading the spirit of sharing and mutual love. What is special is that the restaurant does not have a cashier, customers put money into the "3K Box". Those who do not have money can still eat for free, while many workers often put in 5,000 or 10,000 VND. Some people even come to support the restaurant because they know that it helps the poor, and are willing to contribute tens or hundreds of thousands of VND.

Customers put their own money into the "3K Box".

In addition, the restaurant also received support from generous donors who sponsored noodles, spices, vegetables and other necessities. “We use the money raised to maintain the restaurant’s operations, and the remainder will be put into the neighborhood’s Social Security Fund to buy health insurance for poor households, buy notebooks and give scholarships to students who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies,” said Mr. Phan Van Canh, Head of Neighborhood 2.

The Youth Union members are determined to serve the people wholeheartedly and thoughtfully.

The noodle shop “without owner, without staff, not selling for profit” has been, is and will become a destination for people in difficult circumstances, helping them to reduce their daily living expenses. Each bowl of noodles sold is not only simply to serve breakfast for people but also carries a profound humanistic meaning of the spirit of mutual love, sharing for the community, thereby contributing to improving people's lives, spreading kindness, good deeds in the locality in particular and the whole society in general.
