In the whole Quang Dien district, more than 612 hectares of rice and vegetables were knocked down.

Initial statistics show that in the entire Quang Dien district, more than 612 hectares of rice and vegetables were damaged; of which 514 hectares of rice, 14 hectares of chili, 24 hectares of watermelon and more than 60.5 hectares of green vegetables were severely damaged.

The localities with heavy damage include: Sia Town (130 hectares), Quang Thai (120 hectares), Quang Vinh (62 hectares), Quang Loi (45 hectares)... Particularly, Thang Loi Agricultural Production Cooperative, Quang Loi commune has 320 hectares of rice and vegetables flooded.

Mr. Hoang Van Minh, a member of Team 2, Thang Loi Agricultural Production Cooperative, said: "This winter-spring crop, his family put into production 6 sao of rice fields and 1 sao of watermelon. However, the heavy rain and strong wind on the evening of April 12 caused 3 sao of rice fields in the seed-firming stage and 1 sao of watermelon of his family to fall down."

To proactively respond to unusual weather, the People's Committee of Quang Dien district directed communes, towns, and related sectors to ensure the safety of dyke works; deploy plans to protect agricultural production; mobilize human resources and means, proactively regulate water in flooded fields; regularly monitor weather conditions to respond promptly.

Mr. Hoang Van Minh's 1 sao of watermelon was damaged by strong winds and heavy rain.

Previously, the Hue City Hydrometeorological Station issued a warning to units and localities in the area about the unusual weather situation due to the influence of the Northeast monsoon. Specifically, on April 13, on land, strong winds of level 3-4, gusting to level 5; in coastal areas, winds of level 4-5, gusting to level 6. The weather will turn cold at night and in the morning.

The Hue City Hydrometeorological Station also warned of the possibility of scattered thunderstorms, with some places experiencing moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms. There is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms, so people should take precautions.
