On the afternoon of October 9, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held a press conference to inform about the socio-economic situation in the first 9 months and key tasks in the fourth quarter of 2024.

GRDP increased by 5.9% over the same period in 2023

Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) is estimated to increase by 5.9% in the first 9 months. Compared to the same period in 2023, the third quarter alone increased by 12.7%, ranking 50th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide in terms of economic growth.

The added value of the entire industry increased by 12.3% over the same period last year, contributing 3.22 percentage points to the overall growth rate of the entire economy (9 months of 2023 was -20.9%).

Industrial production recovered strongly in the third quarter with a growth rate of 31.8%. Estimated state budget revenue for the first 9 months was nearly VND14,435 billion, reaching 61.2% of the estimate.

The total public investment capital plan for 2024 is 8,884 billion VND. Up to now, the province has allocated detailed plans for sectors and localities of more than 6,600 billion VND, reaching 94%.

The Provincial People's Committee also established 5 working groups to inspect, urge, and remove difficulties and obstacles to promote disbursement of public investment capital.

Thereby, reviewing and transferring the 2024 capital plan of VND 222 billion for slow-disbursement projects to projects with good disbursement progress to increase the disbursement rate and promote the efficiency of public investment capital.

As of September 30, the province has disbursed VND3,678 billion, reaching 41.4% of this year's capital plan.

Focus on removing difficulties for businesses

In the fourth quarter, the province will focus on seriously and effectively implementing key tasks and solutions on investment capital disbursement according to the direction of the Prime Minister .

Continue to focus on removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses and people, especially key projects, real estate projects, tourism projects, etc. after the land law, housing law, and real estate business law take effect from August 1.

Mr. Le Van Dung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - said that the province has taken many measures, classifying each type of enterprise to have solutions to overcome difficulties and accompany enterprises.

The province also continues to organize inspections and strengthen mineral resource management and environmental protection.

Rectify state management of land, basic construction, real estate business, mineral exploitation, regularly inspect and strictly handle violations.

Responding to the press's question about whether any enterprises have invested in Chu Lai airport so far, Mr. Le Van Dung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that the province had previously had a working session with the Prime Minister.

Later, the Government Office announced the Prime Minister's Conclusion No. 135 agreeing in principle to research investment and exploitation of Chu Lai Airport in the form of socialization to invest in building Chu Lai Airport. But until now, no enterprise has officially invested, only a few investors have researched, found it too difficult so they stopped.

Recently, after the Prime Minister's working trip to India, a corporation from this country conducted a feasibility study on investing in this airport.

"Chu Lai Airport is considered one of the three largest airports in the country today in terms of space and area, because there are still more than 2,000 hectares of clean land, land that the state is managing and has not been assigned to anyone.

This is the most favorable condition for investing in this airport to become an international airport, especially the largest cargo transit point in the country. The province will have the opportunity to develop its socio-economy in the future if it can do so," Mr. Dung added.
