Quang Nam solemnly organized a program to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Nui Thanh Victory

Attending the program were comrades Nguyen Duc Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Vu Ngoc Hoang - former Member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, former Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee; representatives of the Da Nang City Party Committee; delegates of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces.

On the side of Quang Nam province, there were comrades Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Duc Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Van Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Le Tri Thanh - Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and comrades in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee.

At the beginning of the commemorative program, delegates were shown a documentary film about the Nui Thanh Victory produced by Quang Nam Newspaper and Radio and Television Station. The film reviewed the history and tradition of the steadfast revolutionary struggle of the army and people of Military Zone 5 as well as Quang Nam province.

Speaking at the program, Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung said: After 60 years of the Nui Thanh Victory, 50 years of the Liberation of the homeland, with a steadfast revolutionary tradition, with the will and determination not to give up in the face of difficulties, the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam have promoted the revolutionary tradition, constantly innovated, created, united, strived to rise up, continuing to write the heroic and glorious history of the homeland of Quang Nam.

From a predominantly agricultural economy with fragmented and backward agricultural production, more than 50% of households living in poverty, Quang Nam has continuously risen with impressive achievements and developments. Since 2017, Quang Nam has officially regulated domestic revenue to the Central Government. In 2024, the total economic revenue in the area will reach more than 27,600 billion VND (217 times higher than in 1997), the economic scale will be more than 129 trillion VND, and the average income per capita will be more than 84 million VND.

The economic structure has shifted strongly towards industry and services. People's lives have been constantly improved; the poverty rate has decreased rapidly, to only 4.56% by the end of 2024. The whole province has 149/193 communes recognized as meeting new rural standards, 5 district-level units have met the standards/completed the task of building new rural areas.

The appearance of urban, rural, mountainous, island and border areas has completely changed and flourished. Economic and social infrastructure has been invested in and developed synchronously and modernly, especially strategic transport infrastructure, logistics infrastructure, infrastructure of economic zones, industrial parks, urban infrastructure, creating the premise to promote industrialization and modernization.

There has been much progress in the cultural and social fields. National defense has been strengthened; political security has been maintained; social order and safety have been ensured; foreign affairs have been expanded. The political system has operated synchronously, administrative reform has been promoted; the effectiveness and efficiency of state management have changed positively.

Democracy is promoted, the great national unity bloc is increasingly consolidated. People are excited and confident in the leadership and innovation of the Party, in the changes of their homeland and country.

On behalf of the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung sincerely expresses his gratitude for the attention, direction, support and assistance of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, leaders and former leaders of the Party, the State, central departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations and military regions, military branches and armed forces for Quang Nam during the past time and looks forward to continuing to receive attention, sharing and support in the coming time.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung also expressed special feelings and deep gratitude to the revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, generals, wounded soldiers, veterans, families of martyrs, families with meritorious services to the revolution, and families of comrades who participated in the battle of Nui Thanh.

At the commemorative program, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai and Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet presented gifts to delegates of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and veterans who participated in the battle of Nui Thanh.
