Quang Nam investigates responsibility for the 220 billion VND bridge project that 'cannot be completed' - Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station

On April 14, the Office of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province announced that the People's Committee of this province has just issued a decision approving the adjustment of the investment project to build Tam Tien bridge and access road, Nui Thanh district.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province approved the adjustment of the implementation time of the Tam Tien bridge and approach road project from 2018-2024 to 2018-2025.

Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee requests Nui Thanh District People's Committee (project investor) to direct and urge the unit implementing compensation, site clearance, and resettlement to complete the remaining work to hand over the site on schedule as committed; direct the contractor to re-establish the detailed schedule for the remaining volume to start construction immediately after receiving the site. The investor is responsible for prolonging the project implementation time, affecting investment efficiency and causing damage to related parties (if any).

In addition, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province directed to clarify the responsibilities of organizations and individuals related to the delay in project implementation.

Previously, as reported by VTC News , in May 2019, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province approved the investment in the construction of the Tam Tien bridge project and the access road (connecting Tam Tien and Tam Xuan 1 communes) with a length of 4.18km. The project has a total investment of about 220 billion VND, with the implementation period until December 2022.

However, after many extensions, this project has not been completed yet due to compensation and site clearance problems.

While the new bridge is being built in a "turtle-like" style, for many years now, local people have had to risk their lives traveling on the Mang Bridge across the Truong Giang River, connecting the two communes of Tam Tien and Tam Xuan 1.

Mang Bridge shows signs of serious degradation.

Over the past 15 years, Mang Bridge has shown signs of serious deterioration and is in a state of "alarm" due to the risk of collapse at any time. The bridge surface is peeling, with dense cracks appearing; the reinforced concrete pillars that connect the cables that make up the railing have also been dislodged and are lying tilted.

The dilapidation of the bridge has caused a series of tragic deaths and has become a haunting obsession for people in the area.
