Quang Ninh welcomes more than 624,000 guests, no room shortage

According to statistics from the Department of Tourism of Quang Ninh province, by the end of May 2, the whole province welcomed more than 624,000 visitors during the April 30 - May 1 holiday. The occupancy rate of 5-star hotels reached more than 70%.

According to a report from the Department of Tourism of Quang Ninh province, during the three-day holiday from April 30 to May 2, the number of tourists flocking to tourist destinations across Quang Ninh province tended to increase sharply.

According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuy, Director of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, from April 29 to May 2, the total number of visitors to tourist areas and spots in the province is estimated to reach more than 624,000. Of which, the number of overnight guests is estimated to reach more than 274,000. This number is expected to continue to increase on the last day of the holiday.

Speaking to Zing on May 2, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuy, Director of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, said that this year the holiday lasted 5 days, causing the number of holiday visitors to increase.

“In addition to the long holiday, the province's exploitation of the highway to Mong Cai, the expansion of tourism space, the return of international tourists, especially Chinese tourists, contributed to the increase in the number of visitors to Quang Ninh during the April 30 - May 1 holiday,” Mr. Thuy commented.

No room fire

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Quyet, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Tourism Association, said that during the April 30-May 1 holiday this year, the room occupancy rate of 4-5 star hotels reached about 70%. The room occupancy rate of 3-star hotels and below was also lower than last year. Room prices during the holiday this year did not increase much compared to normal days. Most guests stayed on April 29, April 30 and May 1. 12/13 districts and towns of Quang Ninh did not run out of rooms during the holiday. Only Mong Cai City ran out of rooms during the 3 days of the holiday (May 29-1).

According to Mr. Quyet, the main reason is that this year domestic tourist destinations have developed and launched new tourism products, typically Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong ... attracting a certain number of visitors. At the same time, visitors from last year who went to Quang Ninh will choose other destinations this year.

In addition, the large increase in the number of hotels and rooms also affects the room capacity of other hotels in Quang Ninh during the holiday. "This year, three large hotels, A La Carte, The Watson Premium Halong Hotel and Sea Star, have put into operation an additional 1,500 rooms," said Mr. Quyet.

Currently, Quang Ninh still lacks innovative tourism products. Service costs in Quang Ninh are relatively high, second only to Hanoi.

Over 120,000 visitors to the border city

Ms. Pham Thi Oanh, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Mong Cai City, said that the number of visitors from April 29 to May 1 reached over 120,000 people, an increase of 80% over the same period in 2022. International visitors through Mong Cai international border gate on those days reached more than 12,000.

Visitors flocked to the border market area, Tran Phu walking street, Sa Vi, Vinh Thuc island, Tra Co beach, Xa Tac temple... During the 5-day holiday, Mong Cai city estimated to welcome 160,000 visitors.

In order to meet the increasing demand for accommodation, entertainment and services for tourists, Mong Cai's tourist destinations have been invested and upgraded to improve the quality of experience for tourists.

During the holiday, the city organized over 30 activities, events, and festivals to attract tourists. This year, Mong Cai City is strengthening its brand image as a "green, smart, friendly, and safe tourist city".

Over 65,000 visitors to Ha Long Bay

Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Ha Long City, said that it is estimated that from April 29 to May 3, the city had more than 280,000 visitors and tourists. Total revenue from tourism activities is estimated to reach over 615,000 million VND.

Of which, Ha Long Bay welcomed more than 65,000 visitors, with more than 18,000 international visitors. In addition to Ha Long Bay, a number of entertainment venues continued to affirm their attraction to domestic and foreign visitors, welcoming thousands of visitors every day. Quang Ninh Museum welcomed nearly 31,000 visitors. The ocean park welcomed about 64,000 visitors.

Spiritual destinations in Quang Ninh also attract a large number of tourists. As of May 2, Yen Tu relic site welcomed about 11,150 visitors, Ba Vang pagoda welcomed about 27,000 visitors, and Cua Ong temple welcomed about 6,780 visitors.

Events and festivals held in Ha Long City such as Carnival, kite flying, fairs, Ao Dai shows, etc. also attract a large number of tourists and locals to visit and experience.

Co To welcomes over 16,000 visitors

Co To island district is estimated to welcome over 16,000 visitors to the island for sightseeing and experience. Tourist attractions such as Co To lighthouse, Hong Van and Van Chai beaches, love road... attract young people to check-in and experience.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Linh, Head of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Co To district, said that Co To district has implemented a series of solutions to ensure a healthy tourism business environment by regularly checking, handling and strictly dealing with violations and tightening price posting.

At the same time, the island district has simultaneously implemented many measures to stabilize security and order, strengthen management, inspection and supervision of tourism business activities, and ensure a healthy and safe tourism business environment for tourists. Therefore, this year's holiday season, there will be no more traffic jams and visitors will not be able to buy tickets to the mainland.
