The 2023 Asian Cup will take place in Qatar from January 12 to February 10, 2024. The Vietnamese team will gather on December 28, and the whole team will have a week of training in the country before going to Qatar on January 5, 2024.

On December 16, central defender Que Ngoc Hai suffered an injury and could not play in the match between Binh Duong and Nam Dinh in round 6 of V-League 2023/24. This created concerns that he would not recover in time to participate in the 2023 Asian Cup.

However, the X-ray results in Ho Chi Minh City on December 18 showed that Que Ngoc Hai only had a minor muscle tear, which would take about 2-3 weeks to recover.

With this diagnosis, Que Ngoc Hai still has enough time to participate in the 2023 Asian Cup. At the Asian Championship in Qatar, the Vietnamese team will have their opening match against Japan on January 14.

Que Ngoc Hai is a central defender that coach Philippe Troussier trusts a lot. He is one of the few veteran players that the French coach has kept in the team despite the rise of many young faces playing the same position.

Que Ngoc Hai played well in Vietnam's latest official international match against Iraq at My Dinh Stadium on November 21, until he suffered an injury and had to leave the field at the end of the match.
