Quynh Phu: Speed ​​up the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households

As a poor single-parent household, for many years, Ms. Pham Thi Ut, Quynh Hung commune, has lived in a seriously degraded level 4 house without the ability to rebuild or repair it. After screening, Ms. Ut was eligible for support to build a new house under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the province. With additional financial and labor support from her family members, after only 2 months of implementation, Ms. Ut fulfilled her dream of settling down in a spacious and solid house with a total construction cost of about 120 million VND, of which 100 million VND was supported by the province. The new house has an area of ^​​40m2 , helping Ms. Ut reduce difficulties in life.

According to Ms. Lam Thi Nhinh, a civil servant of labor, war invalids and social affairs of Quynh Hung commune, the whole commune has 11 families eligible for support to build new and repair houses under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the province, of which 6 houses are newly built and 5 houses are being repaired. To date, 9 houses have completed the construction or repair; the remaining 2 families are expected to complete the construction before June 30, 2025.

In Quynh Hong commune, responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" launched by the Prime Minister and the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front with the message "Millions of loving hearts - thousands of happy roofs"; the peak emulation campaign "300 days of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" in the province as well as the direction of the district, the entire political system has joined in with the spirit of urgency and the highest determination to realize the dream of settling down for poor and near-poor households. Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoa, a civil servant of labor - war invalids and social affairs of the commune, said: As soon as we received the directives from the superiors, we established a steering committee, conducted appraisal, evaluation, and made a list of households requesting support to submit to competent authorities for consideration. The whole commune has 14 households eligible to receive financial support for new construction or repair. Up to now, 10 households have completed; for the remaining 4 households, we are actively urging to speed up the construction process to complete before the prescribed time.

In 2024, Quynh Phu district has 491 poor and near-poor households supported to build new or repair houses according to Decision No. 1850 of the Provincial People's Committee; of which 260 households built new houses and 231 households repaired. As of March 24, 2025, 392 houses were completed and put into use. The district Fatherland Front Committee has allocated support funds in accordance with regulations. In addition, the district has also mobilized other resources to support families to build new and repair houses. Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Mui, Deputy Head of the District's Home Affairs Department, said: To achieve such quick results, the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses of the district has assigned and assigned specific tasks to each member, closely following the areas they monitor to urge localities to mobilize families to quickly start construction and complete the plan soon. For households facing difficulties in building and repairing houses, the district requires communes to direct professional staff, departments, branches and organizations to encourage, coordinate and help households in choosing house models, hiring construction teams and suppliers of construction materials, helping with labor days and essential living tools, creating the best conditions for households to build and repair houses.

In 2025, Quynh Phu has 155 more poor and near-poor households registering for support to build new and repair houses, of which 118 households will be newly built and 37 households will be repaired. In order to strive to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses before June 30, 2025 in the spirit of the provincial steering committee, the district is directing sectors and localities to focus on synchronously and drastically implementing housing support for poor and near-poor households on schedule; continue to mobilize agencies, units, organizations, individuals, businesses and people from all walks of life to participate in supporting funds to implement the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Along with that, strengthen inspection and supervision to prevent loss, waste and negativity; commend collectives and individuals who are active in implementing the task. At the same time, promote propaganda and widely disseminate the meaning and tasks of supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses to organizations, businesses, cadres, party members and people.
