According to Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh - General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation , "5-door train" and the ticket control system using biometric technology are 2 projects in the list of 250 projects and works that were inaugurated/started simultaneously across the country on August 19, celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2.
The "5-gate train" was put into operation by Vietnam Railways Corporation and its partners, inspired by the beauty of the ancient Thang Long citadel. The train cars are named after the 5 gates: Cau Den gate, Quan Chuong gate, Cau Giay gate, Cho Dua gate and Dong Mac gate. These are names that evoke the thousand-year history of the capital and the heritage of the Red River Delta.
The ship has a spacious interior.
The train consists of 5 double-decker seating carriages and 2 carriages reserved for check-in. The carriages have luxurious interiors designed according to their own themes and have from 40 to 60 seats each. The windows on the carriages are all opened to the maximum so that passengers can comfortably sit and enjoy the scenery along the way.
After the launching ceremony, the "5-door train" is expected to be put into operation in September 2025, serving tourists visiting and experiencing tourism in Hanoi and Bac Ninh.
During the journey, cruise passengers will enjoy many traditional cultural and artistic forms such as: Quan Ho folk songs, Ca Tru, Cheo singing, Xam singing...
The second floor of the train car is arranged with seats convenient for passengers to sightsee.
From August 19, Vietnam Railways Corporation also officially operated the Ticket Control System using biometric technology through citizen identification authentication at Hanoi Station. This is a product that concretizes the policy of promoting the application of science and technology and digital transformation of the railway industry.
In the first phase, the system will be deployed in the form of authenticating passenger information using chip-embedded citizen identification cards. This is a plan to exploit the national population database, to ensure high accuracy, security and legality.
Previously, in the first 10 days of August 2025, the system was tested in parallel with the traditional ticket checking method. The testing phase helped to refine the recognition software, improving accuracy and stability.

Initial results show: average ticket checking speed is only 3-5 seconds/passenger, about 50% faster than QR code scanning; successful recognition rate is over 98%; significantly reduces pressure on ticket checking staff, especially during rush hour.
In the near future, the system will be integrated with the VNeID application, allowing passengers with train tickets to check their tickets using electronic identification data, without having to bring their Citizen ID card, thereby minimizing procedures, improving the experience and convenience for passengers.
