Rakitic angers Juventus

Ivan Rakitic has been forced to apologise after accidentally using a song that offended Juventus fans.

According to Football Italia , to celebrate Luka Modric's move to AC Milan, Rakitic posted on his personal page, using a song with lyrics supporting the Milan team. However, it's worth noting that this song also contains a message insulting Juventus, AC Milan's rival.

This incident subsequently caused a major controversy, with Juventus fans flooding the former Croatian international's social media page to attack him. Following the backlash from many fans, Rakitic deleted the controversial post and issued an apology on his personal page.

"I want to offer my sincere apologies to Juventus fans. My intention was simply to use a song related to AC Milan to congratulate my friend, Luka Modric, without being aware of the historical context or lyrics associated with it," the former Barca star emphasized.

He further explained: "I had absolutely no intention of offending anyone, especially Juventus, a club I have always respected."

In May, Rakitic officially announced his retirement at the age of 37, ending a glorious career of over 15 years on the pitch. After retiring, Rakitic transitioned into a management role, taking on the position of assistant sporting director at his hometown club, Hajduk Split.

Modric officially debuted for AC Milan earlier this week. The Croatian star's appearance in the "Rossoneri" number 14 jersey attracted a great deal of attention from fans. Hundreds of supporters gathered at the venue where Modric was unveiled, chanting the veteran's name repeatedly.
