According to WCCF Tech, the newly launched Galaxy S25 Edge has attracted attention thanks to its ultra-thin design of only 5.8 mm, but the 3,900 mAh battery has made many users worried about its ability to maintain real-life usage time. Many opinions say that the battery seems modest compared to other high-end smartphones on the market today.

In response to these questions, a senior Samsung executive explained that the “secret weapon” that helps the company feel confident about the battery life of the Galaxy S25 Edge is Agentic AI technology – an independent artificial intelligence that is deeply integrated into the energy management system. This is a new technology that helps optimize battery performance in a smarter and more efficient way. At the same time, Samsung also revealed the research and development of breakthrough battery technology that the company is pursuing for the future.

In an interview with Tom's Hardware, Mr. Blake Gaiser - Director of Smartphone Product Management at Samsung Electronics America - further explained why Samsung did not apply high-density silicon-carbon battery technology like many other Chinese competitors for the S25 Edge. According to him, although Samsung always follows new technologies, the combination of the new generation chip and Agentic AI helps to significantly improve performance and energy saving, so continuing to use traditional lithium-ion batteries is the most suitable decision for this device.

Thanks to this collaboration, Samsung believes that the Galaxy S25 Edge will still meet users' needs well despite its limited battery capacity, while opening up a new direction for future high-end devices with smarter and more efficient energy management technologies.

Agentic AI is a technology that proactively manages tasks and optimizes the system, minimizing unnecessary energy consumption. Thanks to that, even though the battery capacity is not too large, the usage time is still extended. This is an approach that focuses on software intelligence to compensate for hardware limitations, helping to make the phone design super thin.

However, this does not mean that Samsung ignores the development of physical battery technology. Mr. Blake Gaiser said that the company is actively researching new solutions, reinforcing the information that Samsung is testing silicon-carbon batteries. It is expected that this technology can be applied to the Galaxy S26 Ultra launched next year, helping the device own a battery capacity of up to 7,000 mAh.

In addition, Samsung is also focusing on developing solid-state battery technology. This type of battery is expected to be equipped first for wearable devices such as smart watches and headphones, with plans to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. This is an important step in improving performance and safety for compact devices.

In short, Samsung's current strategy is to leverage AI power to optimize performance and battery life for its current thin and light products. Meanwhile, the company reserves battery hardware breakthroughs for future flagship generations, promising better experiences and larger capacities.
