Currently, the whole province has 72 OCOP products (2 products meeting 4-star standards, 3 products eligible for 4-star certification and 67 products meeting 3-star standards). In order for OCOP products to spread in the domestic market and abroad, in recent years, Dien Bien has reorganized production, built and developed raw material areas associated with improving product quality. At the same time, increasing the connection between enterprises, cooperatives and farmers in production and product consumption to improve the competitiveness of OCOP products; strengthening trade promotion.
In 2024, with a series of events taking place during the National Tourism Year, it is a "golden opportunity" for the province to promote OCOP products to reach domestic and foreign consumers more quickly. In particular, from the beginning of 2024, with the Cultural Week event taking place in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Thanh Hoa, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade introduced OCOP products at the event, attracting a large number of people and tourists to visit and enjoy. At the same time, focus on promoting OCOP products, typical rural industrial products and products and goods with strengths of the province such as: Tea, coffee, Dien Bien rice... to consumers to find and expand the consumption market.
At the Cherry Blossom Festival held in Muong Phang, the most recent activity was the Highland Cultural Space and the exhibition of cultural and tourism products held in Dien Bien Phu City (within the framework of the Ban Flower Festival) which was an opportunity for localities in the province to promote and introduce OCOP products to consumers inside and outside the province. Here, many booths displaying and introducing OCOP products attracted a large number of people and tourists to visit and shop; at the same time, creating conditions for businesses to have opportunities to cooperate in business and connect with partners inside and outside the province.
Participating in displaying and promoting products at the event, Ms. Bui Thi Viet Ha, owner of Ha Chung coffee processing facility, Muong Ang district - a unit with 4-star quality OCOP products, said: "The facility is very happy to participate in displaying OCOP products at events during the National Tourism Year. This is an opportunity for the facility to introduce products to domestic and foreign tourists. We hope that in the future there will be more opportunities for OCOP product production facilities to participate in promoting their products, thereby expanding the consumption market." Experiencing the Highland Cultural Space and displaying and introducing cultural and tourism products of the province, Ms. Nguyen Hong Van, a tourist from the city. Da Nang shared: “This is the first time I have come to Dien Bien. This place is not only famous for the Dien Bien Phu victory but also has many typical products that attract tourists, such as: dried meat, Dien Bien rice, red peanuts, sticky rice... I hope these products will be promoted more widely so that people from other places can access them more easily.”
According to Mr. Vu Van Nam, Deputy Director of the Provincial Trade Promotion Center, promoting and introducing OCOP products at events and activities during the National Tourism Year 2024 will not only introduce typical agricultural products to tourists but also contribute to attracting and "holding" tourists when coming to Dien Bien. In order for OCOP products to accompany the National Tourism Year, the province plans to organize the Northwest - Dien Bien 2024 Industry and Trade Fair (expected to take place from April 19 to 24, 2024). The fair will have a scale of about 300 booths, of which Dien Bien province will have 30 booths introducing typical agricultural products and goods of the province. The fair will be an opportunity for organizations, enterprises, traders, and business households to access the market, promote and sell OCOP products, specialties, and typical products of localities; Find partners, expand markets, connect trade with domestic provinces and export abroad.
The display and introduction of OCOP products at activities and events during the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 is of great significance in enhancing the image of the OCOP Dien Bien brand to domestic and international tourists. Contributing to promoting trade promotion activities, supporting businesses producing OCOP products and typical products of the province to connect with units and businesses in and outside the region, seeking development opportunities.
