During and after the recent historic floods, the banks of this river continued to erode seriously and in a complicated manner, affecting the safety of people, constructions, houses and causing loss of productive land.
In late October and early November 2025, the flood on the Bo River exceeded the historical flood peak of 5.18m in 1999 three times. Specifically, the flood on the Bo River at Phu Oc peaked at 5.25m on October 27 during the first flood; peaked at 5.27m on October 29 during the second flood; and peaked at 5.31m on November 3 during the third flood.
Recorded on December 1st at the southern bank of the Bo River in Huong Tra Ward, traces of the recent historic floods are still clearly visible. The land along the river was covered with a layer of mud, along with many cracks. Banana gardens were collapsed due to the flood and lay close to the ground.
The acacia garden has many large trees that are many years old and were swept into the river. Some large acacia trees were cut down by local people to get the trunks, but the roots were swept into the river because the land along the banks of the Bo River was seriously eroded. Garbage and plastic bags were still stuck on the branches of acacia trees and bamboo trees. In particular, bank erosion and erosion caused the banks of the Bo River to erode close to people's houses and buildings.

According to the representative of the People's Committee of Huong Tra Ward, after the recent historic floods, the Bo River bank through the locality has eroded up to 4 km. The resources to overcome the erosion of the Bo River bank are very large, exceeding the capacity of the locality. The competent authorities have returned to the locality to inspect the erosion of the Bo River bank to take remedial measures.
Similarly, the Bo River bank through Kim Tra ward, Quang Dien commune... has been and is being eroded in many places. The impact of storm No. 10 in late September 2025 caused heavy rain, causing serious erosion of the Bo River bank through Niem Pho village, Quang Dien commune. According to Ms. Tran Thi Len, Niem Pho village, Quang Dien commune, the Bo River bank is seriously eroded every time there is a storm or flood, so local people are worried about the safety of their houses and constructions.
The bank of the Bo River, passing through Niem Pho village, Quang Dien commune, suffered a severe landslide with a length of 900m. The landslide, which penetrated deep into the bank, damaged essential infrastructure works, affected the vital traffic of the village and commune, causing insecurity for 7 houses; at the same time, it affected the lives of people and the local economic and social development. In particular, the landslide route is the vital route connecting Provincial Road 19 to Nho Lam dike, this is the only main route for people to travel during the flood season to connect inter-commune.

The People's Committee of Hue City has requested localities and units to deploy and apply emergency measures, including mobilizing legal resources according to regulations to carry out emergency handling, reinforcement, and initial landslide prevention; put up warning signs, delineate dangerous areas, arrange guards, and guide people to ensure safety in the area...
According to the Department of Irrigation and Climate Change of Hue City, the immediate solution to deal with riverbank erosion is for localities to put up warning signs to warn people, have plans to evacuate people living close to the riverbank when floods occur; and handle emergencies such as temporary barriers and stakes. Units have been coordinating to conduct surveys, designs, and establish projects to urgently handle riverbank erosion.
