AFP news agency reported that UNRWA employee Sufyan Jaber Abed Jawwad was shot dead on the roof of his home by a sniper. This is the first time a UNRWA employee has been killed in the West Bank in more than 10 years. The incident occurred at the Faraa refugee camp in the northern West Bank.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced that it had “conducted a 48-hour anti-terror operation” in the Tubas, Tamun and Faraa areas, killing five armed terrorists in an airstrike and one terrorist in a gun battle.
The Israeli military has yet to comment on UNRWA's statement regarding the death of employee Sufyan Jaber Abed Jawwad.
Meanwhile, regarding the escalating situation in the West Bank and new developments in the Gaza Strip, on the same day, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had a phone call.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the two sides stressed the importance of quickly reaching a ceasefire agreement, providing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, and facilitating UNRWA's missions.
