Four out of nine pilot border school projects in Lao Cai will be completed by August 2026.

Nine boarding schools invested in construction in communes and wards of the province are included in Notice No. 81-TB/TW of the Politburo's conclusion dated July 18, 2025 on the policy of investing in building schools in 248 border communes nationwide.

Investing in building new schools will help improve the quality of education in border areas in the province.

Accordingly, the communes and wards that have been invested in construction include: Lao Cai ward, Y Ty, A Mu Sung, Trinh Tuong, Bat Xat, Pha Long, Muong Khuong, Ban Lau and Si Ma Cai communes.

Of which, there are 4 pilot investment projects, construction to be completed before August 30, 2026, including: Muong Khuong Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities; Y Ty Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities; Pha Long Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities; A Mu Sung Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

The Provincial People's Committee is assigning relevant functional agencies and local authorities to urgently complete the tasks, especially the site arrangement, especially for the 4 pilot projects to be completed before August 30, 2026.

It is known that the Ministry of Construction has completed the design of the architectural model. Accordingly, the scale of each school is from 1,000 students or more, the school campus can include one or more areas ensuring a land area of ​​5 - 10 hectares. There are full functional blocks: study, administration, living, sports and boarding. The design aims for synchronization, modernity but still flexible to adapt to the terrain and climate of each region.

The implementation of border school construction is a major campaign of the Government, focusing on completing 100 boarding and semi-boarding schools for students and teachers in border communes in the 2025-2026 period, with the goal of ensuring educational equity and developing human resources in border areas. The project includes building or renovating 100 schools in 2025, then expanding to all 248 border schools, mobilizing resources from the State, localities and socialization.
